Racial Discrimination in Ann Arbor

There are type of racial discrimination in every businesses around the country. But this one in Ann Arbor, Michigan was really out of line when he made a racist remark about black folks coming into his tire shop in Ann Arbor. And it quotes saying, "Ghetto folks need to stay in the ghetto and not come to Ann arbor." Now what does that tell you right there? He hates black people, plain and simple. And the one who made that racist remark is Madison Callahan, who owns Whitney's Tire and Auto Repair, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This guy discriminates against people of color for the simple fact that black folks are described as "ghetto people". What in the hell is wrong with you, Mr. Callahan?! You're so prejudice of all races - period! You may have the right to refuse service to anyone, but you don't have to single out the one who want to be serviced to come to your establishment for auto repair or any other services in particular. And you say you have nothing against black folks? Well, you have been smoking crack the minute you have opened your mouth, Mr Callahan! There is the law called The Civil Rights Act of 1964, you jackass! It says that " it prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, creed, religion by privately owned businesses". That's what it says! And you have absolutely no right to call blacks and minorities " primates" or "monkeys" in this manner! When someone calls your shop to get how much will it cost to fix their car, you just don't tell them that you don't service monkeys! You don't! You just simply tell them how much it will cost to fix the car and that's it. That's how you do business, boy! And if you think that keeping ghetto folks away from servicing their vehicles, well, I'm sorry you're wrong. You gonna lose money one way or the other, no matter what you think! So, I suggest you change your way of thinking and stop being prejudice to just one section of people and start treating us black folks the same way you treat your white customers. Because you can make a lot of money by treating all races the same respect as you do with other people. No wonder you're getting bad reviews by us ghetto people, because you are a racist pig! That's right I said it - and you know it! Which reminds me that I went to two white-owned shops to get my oil changed and to another one to get my car inspected. And the outcome is that I've got treated with respect. Why can't you, Madison Callahan? Because you don't service blacks and minorities, that's why. And I'm saying this because I'm a black man! And you, Mr. Callahan, should be put out of business for the way that you treat minorities like wild animals in Ann Arbor, Michigan and surrounding areas. So, change your tune or get changed out, sucker! Believe that!!!

Discrimination is totally wrong, and as you say, illegal. So why isn't the law being put into effect? If this person is discriminating, why hasn't he been prosecuted by the law? People who are discriminators will never change unless they know they WILL be prosecuted for this.

I once called a car repair shop that my plumber recommended me to. The son of the owner, his dad, told me he would look at my struts for free and give me a free evaluation. When I arrived with our Caddy his father was sitting on a chair at the entrance where you drive in with your vehicle. Yes. I was confronted by the dad, not the son who had talked over the phone with me just moments earlier. The first words that came out of the old man's mouth were, "You can't expect us to look at your car for free!" But his son told him he gave me the go ahead to have a look at it for a free estimate so in anger that old man, his father, raced the motor just so the engine would bounce as it had one broken motor mount and this could have busted a seal. I was so angry but I held it together. His son told us, after looking at the struts that we had some of the best struts on our car that money could buy. They were 15 hundred dollars each. Yes, they had cost us a pretty penny back at our old mechanic's garage but that mechanic that we had used for decades had died of colon cancer and sold out the business to another company.
I thanked the son for looking the car over but said I would have to save up for some of the work to get done on it. I of course never planned on going back there. I was discriminated against by the father of that garage because I didn't fork out cash up front for him looking it over and running the motor too much just to show off his disgust with me not giving him any of the green.

I hate people who discriminate for reasons of religion, race, gender, political party or wealth. I am white but I am dirt poor. I have had many friends who were black and loved and respected them like any other people I know. I grew up in a small town where we were taught as kids to respect everyone because God made us all and that is why I think this way today. God bless you and thanks for sharing your views on crappy discriminating donkeys like the one you described in your post.

I would certainly be happy to use the son but that dad can go take a jump!

He was just an angry old man with issues. I do not do business with him or his son because of this. If the father were as thoughtful as his son was I may have considered it. I have had it with hot heads these days. I try to keep away from anyone with a bad attitude as my life is too short for aggravation.
