Ascending Comments is better so you can interact promptly.

I find that when the most recent comment is at the top of the list, not the bottom I can get to it ASAP!

When writing articles, that's only half the fun. You must interact with the others if you want to keep the site alive in real time.

Comments are a must. The more you read about a topic, the more you will want to add your own ideas or reactions about it. If comments ascend upwards instead of downwards, they can be seen faster and clicked on quicker.

Knowing which articles have not been commented on yet and what articles have been written by the newest members you can go to the drop down list and find out what you want to do to stimulate a discussion or exchange of thoughts on any topic of interest to you.

Sharing is caring so be sure to Facebook, Tweet and Pin it when you can.

And it's different on different sites and on some sites, the author can choose!

Choices choices, so many choices. Can you choose one for me? I like ascending comments and categories for comments such as : Today's comments, or Recent Comments and provide the exact time the comment was made and how many minutes and seconds have passed since the comment was posted. Yesterday's comments, and last weeks comments. in that order.

What's it going to take to bring this site back to life? Is there hope in the ER?

I just do not know. The owners don't have enough time for the little money the site generated. They have to earn a living.
