I still have not found a really good site to write on. There are many out there but none of them appeal that much to me.
Below are some of the sites I have the opportunity to write at:
So far, the sites I have written for in the past have been:
- Yahoo!ContributorNetwork (no longer exists)
- Yahoo!Voices (no longer exists)
- Bubblews (no longer exists)
- Consumer Reports
- My own personal home page (my little play thing)
I can't remember all the others. I have a bad memory, but the thing I know about the ones that have folded, that before they folded they gave it their best and for a while Yahoo!ContributorNetwork, Bubblews and Yahoo!Voices were my favorites.
I know they all went under, but the reasons for their failures is still unknown to me.
I know that if a site says it will pay it's writers and does not do this, it is a breach of promise.
I know that if a site does not pay it's writers it is subject to lawsuits.
The writers at Bubblews contacted the Better Business Bureau, also called the BBB, and filed lawsuits to Bubblews dot com for not paying their writers after having promised to do so.
They all blame their failure to pay for being given a raw deal by the advertisers. This might well be, so if this is true, no writing site will survive because essentially most writing sites and other blogs and such use Google Ads of some type to make money and use affiliate links to get more money and this coupled with the latest algorithm of Panda, a Google thingy, page ranks go up or page ranks go down due to several factors, of which one main one is quality writing with good SEO because if nobody can find you online you will be dead in the water before anyone ever discovers you and it will be lights out for you and all of your members!
The sites that are running now that seem to be holding their own, so far, that is, have been around nearly 10 or more years. New sites have a harder time getting ranked and accumulated membership much less ad revenue to become self sustaining and viable.
