A few things you should always carry in your car for emergency when glass is thrown by a drunken motorist in front of your driveway.
I live where there broken glass appears once or twice a month in our driveway. But, we live on a 6 lane avenue, with high speed traffic.
You may have been most fortunate in your experiences pulling into your driveway not to have to deal with the occasional broken beer bottle glass that covers most of the entry way from the road.
You might consider carrying a few items inside your vehicle when going out.
One thing is to have your emergency flasher lights blinking, especially at night.
The thing is, there are usually 2 additional lanes that a motorist can move into if you find yourself in a position where you must stop before entering into your driveway because of broken glass along the edge where your tires might get a flat from it. Look very carefully before getting out of your vehicle. The last thing you need to do is get out on the driver's side and walk into a lane of moving traffic.
Orange Cones that are often used when you break down on the freeway to warn motorists to slow down and take notice that your vehicle is not moving.
The orange cones are not cheap but 2 or three medium cones are great for this purpose to warn motorists to drive around. They won't know why you have stopped but the cones will alert them that your vehicle is not moving.
A medium sized or protracting broom, a dust pan and a medium trash can with a trash can liner.
It only takes about 5 minutes to clear the broken glass in your driveway when you are in this type of situation. Hopefully you will never get into this kind of predicament, but it better to be prepared for the worst and hope for the best.
