Why do people use Facebook for news?

This is one thing that I have not figured out yet. Why do people use Facebook for news? I do admit that there are news stations on Facebook. I enjoy reading headlines that come up. But it has to be the original news posting. I have seen several people posting about things and following pages that give out "entertainment" news.

That is how it is put out there. But there are so many gullible people in this world and they believe anything they read online. I was reading one post that a friend had shared saying that an actor died. People where going nuts about it. So I clicked on the story to read it and at the bottom it stated that any articles on the page are strictly for "entertainment" reading.

And there were several other things on the page that hinted it not being real.

But why even write about something so horrible and state it be for entertainment. So people please read carefully about things on Facebook. People are out there that only want to mean and take joy away from everyone. Do not fall for things posted. Always do your research before posting.

That is so right. I read articles from Reuters news mostly. It is front line and late breaking news I can really trust to be accurate.

Some people post silly chain letter type "warnings" that other believe and share out to all and sundry!

Maybe it depends on the country. In the Philippines we have FREE mobile access to Facebook, Twitter, wikipedia, etc and our GMA News TV for example has official Facebook and Twitter accounts so we read news from there for FREE.
