Day 5 off Ativan. Lorazepam - Experiencing insomnia.

Day 5 off Ativan. I am having trouble sleeping. The night before I took 2 pink pills to help me sleep. The pink pills are essentially harmless. They are diphenhydramine hcl. benadryl.

No coffee? You kidding me? Yes coffee!

It's not easy stopping Ativan. It's getting harder every day.

The nature of medicine is to help make you better. The nature of doctors and big medicine companies is to get you to stay on it forever!

Frankly I wonder how many daze I can go without this medication from hell.

I know a guy who won't take Tylenol. coffee & a donut pic by A.P. Davis, author.

Some people don't even take aspirin.

Insomnia is a condition best suited for doctors, cab drivers,

postal workers and airline pilots.

Who knows, coffee may actually help me sleep.

You are doing well. You have managed 5 days so far. Which is worst, night, because you can't sleep or day? Can you "do" something when you can't sleep?

You are doing good, just hang in there. I hope it starts getting easier

Usually I just lay in bed and stay quiet so I don't wake my wife up. I will sometimes go sit in the living room and stare out the front window or stand by the fire sipping on tea. Eventually the morning comes and with that a renewed determination to go yet another day without the drug. Each day is a milestone. The longest I was ever off the drug was 2 weeks. I am under less stress because now we have the tires at the shop and can get them put on and the insurance on the house has gone through but we have up to Wed or Fri of next week to get the check before contacting the men to do the house repairs. That is kind of stressful.

I am doing it day by day. If I make it through the first few weeks It may get a little easier and I do sometimes take the two pink pills at night or day to ease the anxiety but the pink pills are the same as Benadryl and it makes me drowsy sometimes. That is why I often have one cup a day of hot coffee to balance things out. I realize that there are only a hand full of writers now active here and for that reason I may take a break, not leave forever, but work on my compilation of articles to put in my next e-book at Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing.

If I can't sleep, I often find sitting upright in an easy armchair does it. If I cannot get up, then I have a small MP3 player With earbud headphones I keep by the side of the bed with relaxation downloads on it. There are lots for free or very cheap on the web. I play through those. If you don't like those, a podcast of some radio programs or language lessons might help you sleep. And if not, you might learn something or get new ideas.
