Prohibition Invention

A few minutes ago I shared an article on facebook which talked about a invention that moonshiners wore during the prohibition era. They were metal and wooden contraptions that attached to the bottom of your shoes and made it seem like a cow or horse had been walking instead of a human.

These were used by moonshiners etc to evade police, because instead of a man or woman footprint , a cow or horse shaped one would be left behind. Kinda brilliant if you think about it. And was probably quite high in demand. The article didn't go into too much detail, but it can be found at MentalFloss' website or facebook page if you would like to read more.

I have read of similar things bing used to confuse the trail, never knew moonshiners used them too. Anything to stay out of prison!

that is a fascinating bit of trivia! Thank you for sharing that one.

That is very interesting. I had never heard of that. I will wager those gizmos are collectible.

I had not heard of that, but I'm not surprised. As with drug trafficking today, the rum runners and moonshiners of the Prohibition Era were as inventive as they were ruthless to feed America's appetite for booze.

Things like that work great for many things.

I don't know how bad the drug problems are up there, but its ridiculous down here. Like insanely bad.

It's bad all over. The "War on Drugs" only accomplished making it such a profitable enterprise that people are willing to kill and die for a piece of the drug trade.

It really is amazing some of the things people have come up with over the years to evade getting into trouble. It is even funnier though when you hear about things going wrong and people getting caught doing really dumb things. It makes you go how in the world did they think they would be able to pull that off haha.
