Hubby s teeth are pulled!

Today my husband went for another trip to the dentist, I kind of lost track but I think its like the 4th or 5th trip in the past 2 months last week they took 2 teeth , today they were supposed to pull the remaining top teeth (which I think were 5 altogether)

He came home he still had 2 top teeth left, from what my daughter told me they attempted to take them all but after numbing his mouth those 2 teeth still hurt while attempting to remove them, so now his gums are bruised in the area of his 2 teeth that are left.

His face is swollen and he goes back to see the oral surgeon in 2 weeks, They gave him only a 3 day supply of pain meds which did not work for him before , any suggestions on how to ease the pain ?

I am sorry for him. Possibly some whiskey would help. Sipped in moderation over a period of time. By the way, I believe you got your category wrong. Your husband's teeth are not animals (at least I hope not!).

If he gets plenty of rest and avoids stimulants like strong coffee and uses a warm tea rinse or use oragel ointment. I know that raised blood pressure can intensify tooth pain or in this case, gum pain.

Whiskey is all I can think of. I never had a lot of pain after having teeth pulled

I've had good luck with Ambesol for tooth and gum pain if he is able to use a topical treatment. It is applied directly to the point of pain.

The pain meds along with ice and heat packs alternating them. That might work we did that with a patient in the nursing home a long time ago.

its funny you should mention a patient in the nursing home, he often whines so much i think he belongs there

I wouldn't put it on the open wound area, but apply it to the gum above the spot.
