Football Fan Dog Valentino

First, I must say: I am not, never have been, and doubt I ever shall be a Pittsburgh Steelers fan! Back in the eighties I did root for the Denver Broncos on occasion.

On Sunday, January 17th of 2016, the Denver Broncos and the Pittsburgh Steelers played an AFC divisional football game. At the same time, frigid white flurries were falling to the ground here in central Ohio.

My dog Valentino donned his red sweater to keep warm while watching the televised football game with our roommate, Eric -- a die-hard Steelers fan -- while I was in my room on my computer. No longer a pro-football fan, I did hope the Steelers won, just so my roommate would not be disappointed. ( And I wouldn't have to hear the cussing or carrying on if they lost the game .)

Eric mentioned that while he doesn't usually care much for dogs dressed in clothes he thinks Valentino looks pretty good in his red dog sweater. He also referred to Valentino being a Steelers fan, oh my ! I laughed and said, "Maybe, but he's not wearing a Pittsburgh Steelers dog sweater!" To that Eric replied, "But if they play in the Super Bowl I might just have to get him one!"

Since the Steelers lost this game to the Broncos, it's safe to say Valentino and I were spared the spectacle of Pittsburgh colors on his dog sweater for at least another year!

He does look good. Glad he got spared at least this year

does this mean that I need to crochet Valentino a Seahawk scarf or Jersey?

I think you had the best time, being at your computer instead of watching the game. I'm glad my husband isn't a sports fan.

Like you I avoid watching sport on the box, there is always a book that needs reading!

Thank you, we think so too, and we're kind of glad about the sweater too!

Oh, CoralLevang you made me laugh this morning! Never a Seahawks fan but if you crocheted Valentino a sweater I would surely let him wear it! I am a Miami Dolphin fan, by the way, at least I was when I was in to football.

When I was married I had no issue with husband being a football fan and watched enough to enjoy it with him. Now, however, I am happy to not be in that entanglement, ha! And yes, I enjoy interests of my own now.

Quite a handsome dog in that sweater. I do like the Steelers since I was raised in Western PA, but I also like other teams as well.

I don't really avoid sports, just have other hobbies and interests that take up my time. Now, I am a Nascar fan!

Too noisy not that keen on motor sports either! You don't want me along on a sport watching day. emoticon

I don't think Valentino has anything to worry about! I am good with flat things. Making things that have curves or holes for arms is probably not something that he is ever going to have to worry about. Now as far as liking football, the only time I really watch it is during the playoffs.

Frankly, I don't enjoy team sports. A team is a generic thing. Nothing special at all about a team. I prefer individual competitions.

That's one thing dogs in this part of the globe do not need. They can well managed with their own coat for warmth. emoticon

Ah, then you must have been a bit disappointed in the Steelers' loss to the Broncos on Sunday.

RuthCox wrote on January 22, 2016, 10:14 AM

I guess I enjoy both individual and team sports, thinking both have their merits for both the competitor and viewer.

Just a little.
