I never pick my purses and that doesn't bother me at all.
Some women are into fashion but I am definitely not one of them. Trendy would be the last adjective that anyone would use to describe me. My mother-in-law, bless her heart, always tries to keep my handbag situation at least somewhat respectable and I am 100% fine with that.
I am not interested in keeping up with fashion trends or impressing others so I don't worry about the latest handbag, hairstyle, smartphone, or anything else. It's just not me.
My amazing mother-in-law, however, never knows what else to give me for holidays so she always sends me the latest Coach purses and wallets. I don't pick my handbags or wallets but I'm okay with that. I'm not interested in the selection process and they are given to me as a gift. Win-win!

Lucky you that your MIL likes giving you purses and wallets you are happy with. My wife is the opposite. She shops for a purse based on functionality, not fashion, and always buys her own.

I don't carry handbag ir purse either. I have a wallet with my id and cash. In my pants pocket
