A Barn with a Swimming Pool??

I was looking through some old pictures of mine, and I found this funny one from the year 2000. I was on my way up north to upstate Pennsylvania to attend the wedding of one of my very close friends, and on the way there, I saw this rather amusing scene off the highway. It's not every day you see a barn with a swimming pool!
Of course, one of my friends assured me it was actually a house, and I suppose it is, but it's still funny to think of it as a barn--after all, it does LOOK like one. I'm just happy that I had my camera with me.
So, just in case you are shivering in the January winter cold, maybe this sunny scene of summer fun will help you feel a little warmer!

It is a converted barn. I had some friends who lived in a house like that. It was kind of neat.

Looking at the windows in it, it was converted into a house. I would love to have an old one like that to live in.

Nice photograph you got there AliCanary . It isn't everyday that you'd see a barn with a pool. I'd be definitely down for a swim in a pool regardless if it is in a barn or not.

I would never have guessed the barn was a home to other than horses and cows. I have seen old style heat cured tobacco barns converted into homes, though, so I don't see why not that kind of barn, too.

Though it does look like a barn, with all those windows it must be a house.A good flash back to share.

I wondered whether the swimming pool was going to be IN the barn. Here in the UK barns are used for all sorts - there is a whole industry of barn conversions for houses, museums, office space and even apartments. One of the computing events we attend has been held in a converted barn before - the landowner had a farm but converted it from grazing and growing to equestrian, outdoor pursuits, off-roading, BMX, adventure trails and so on. The barns are now various sized venues and indoor parking areas with woodchip padding. Easier to drive cars out of than mud-logged fields!

I think that roof shape is called "Dutch barn", so it's no wonder you thought of it as a barn and swimming pool

I am sick of the cold already and we really haven't gotten that much of it. I don't know what it is about the winter time but I always seem to get depressed around this time of year. I could be because I lost so many family members around this . Thanks for the pick me up.

That is an unusual picture but a very interesting photo.
