Shopping on New Years Day 2016

I was up and out of the house by 9:30 a.m. yesterday. I had a coupon for a free drink at Starbucks that was expiring! I started my day with a venti-sized peppermint mocha, which I rarely drink, but it was so cold outside that it seemed like the thing to get.

I also bought a couple of mugs that were on sale there that are like pieces of art. I really do not need any more mugs, but it began my shopping day.

By now, most of the after-Christmas rush for sales is over, and merchandise has been pretty much picked through. But it did not stop me from doing some shopping at TJMaxx, Ross4Less, DollarTree, and the Navy Exchange.

I bought a few Christmas-related things for next year, including two organizers to hold wrapping paper, bags, and bows. I will likely use them for all wrapping, not only for the winter holiday.

I also purchased a three-drawer organizer by Sterlite. It is one of the slimmer versions and I hope that it will fit in the bathroom off my bedroom. That bathroom has little room for anything. It was cold last night, when I came home, so that organizer is still in the car. I will get it today, once I get up and brave the winter air. I hope it fits!

Cleaning supplies, and some personal toiletries were also on my list, so I should not have to get those things again for a little while.

I did have a $10 coupon off of a $30 purchase at Cost Plus World Market that expired yesterday, but I just could not find anything that I truly needed or wanted that was at least $30, so I left that store empty-handed, aside from the now-expired coupon.

I have yet to find a few other things on my list to start the year anew: Pajamas, sweater, and undergarments "unmentionables" (for those who are offended by the thoughts of panties/knickers and brassieres).

I ended my day at home watching a couple of episodes of the first season of the television show, "Castle," while eating a light supper of boiled potatoes and fried herring in mustard sauce, with a side of sliced cucumbers.

I wonder what today will bring? It is not yet 5 a.m. so I think I shall start with a nap!

Laughing at the way you unmentioned your unmentionables. It looks like you had a much more productive New Year's Day than I did. K and I spent the morning taking down Christmas and when the boys got home from the NYE odyssey to the big city, they helped carry everything upstairs. We took them to dinner last night at Texas Roadhouse, but our favorite waitress wasn't working.

You should soon be receiving, if you've not already received, a package in the mail from an author we both know.

Sounds like a wonderful day and a nap today sounds even better. I see you still named those unmentionables lol

It is amazing how fast items can go during these after holiday sales. I was a nurse so the unmentionable did not bother me with all the personal inventories I had to do of personal effects.

Glad you got some shopping done. I need to go to the store and get some of those things and clothes in the very near future.

Happy to know you bought some things for next Christmas.I hope they are not kept too safely so that you wont find them when needed. You managed to mention all the unmentionables.Very naughty of you.

I haven't done any shopping other than food shopping since I purchased some books in November. Is it politically incorrect to use the word undergarments now?
