Business Goals for 2016

As I look toward this new year, I'm dragging a lot of baggage left from 2015. I still have rooms full of books to dispose of. We still have not finished getting our affairs in order. These projects are following me into the new year.

Professionally I have two goals 2016.

1. Develop my blogs into a real business that produces real income.

2. Develop my Zazzle business and promote it more.

These goals are related, since I can use blogs to promote Zazzle. I am also learning to make more money with my affiliate selling in a new online course I purchased. It has two supporting private Facebook groups that provide a place to share tips, discuss how we can improve our blogs, and ask questions that come up as we learn from the course.

I don't expect the results the teacher gets, but I'd be happy to make a small fraction of the over $50,000 she earned from Amazon in just December of this year. I have worked hard in the past, but not smart. I want to work smart so I can at least replace the income I used to get from Bubblews and HubPages. It took me six months to finally get enough for HubPages to pay me at the end of December. It usually takes me around six months to get to my Zazzle threshold, as well. I make more on Zazzle's affiliate program than on Amazon's.

You will probably not be seeing me much here this year except to comment. I have to spend more time trying to get my image from a Pixabay interface that doesn't work half the time and fighting the captcha or having to save as draft in order to post than it takes me to write the post in the first place. Maybe I'm the only one having these issues, but I just don't have the time to deal with them when I could be spending that time on blogs that make more money for me. I need the income. If for any reason the owners lose complete interest and take this site down, you can always find me at barbsbooks or at my business page there, BarbsPeopleBuilders , which I pay more attention to. I'm also at G+ under my own name, Barbara Radisavljevic. I'd love to connect to you all there so we can keep in touch if we can't here. If we connect we can always PM to trade email addresses. It's good to connect on other social networks anyway because we can help each other out.

What are you planning to make your writing pay more this year from the effort you put into it?

Good luck to you with your plans.

I guess I have a two pronged plan for writing this year. One is to just write more, on sites like this and self-published stories, and the second is to interact more. Maybe not much of a plan, but it's a start.

I am going down the blogging line as well - placing articles there that were formerly on now-defunct sites such as Bubblews and Helium - but I don't see how they're going to produce any income if AdSense continues to tell me that they don't qualify!

It seems that will be a good site. Maybe I will try to connect with you. Thanks for the information.

Sounds good to me. I'd just suggest investing more into a self-hosted WordPress site, because I don't know how much longer sites like this will stay viable with so many people blocking their ads.

You just about half to do affiliate selling. I'm learning a lot from a course I started a couple of weeks ago on how to actually earn something. I'e always resisted affiliate selling before. I've got a great affiliate link for the course I'm really finding useful on how to do it without being spammy. The teacher earning over $50,000 this last December just from Amazon. She is from Squidoo, and she started getting serious about her own blogs after Squidoo closed.

I'll look for you.

I look forward to continuing into 2016 as our friendship develops, barb, and I want to wish you the best!

I do hope to get more organized this year as well and will probably be checking it all out. My goal is my first web page I think. But we shall see. Our son was just diagnosed with cancer so probably be on here less. Please keep us in your prayers. Thank you in advance.

Good luck with everything. It's really cool that you're making money from affiliateships. I have a couple of book blogs with affiliate links, but I haven't been able to make any money from them yet. Most of the money I get from my own writing (I also have a freelance ghostwriting business, but I don't consider that my own writing since I don't have the rights to that writing) comes from revenue sharing sites like Persona Paper. After Bubblews shut down and Wikinut stopped paying their writers, I'm worried about some of my other favorite sites shutting down. My writing goals for 2016 is to get my blog Lover's Quarrel profitable (it's the only one I've invested money in since Ink and Paper still uses the free domain) or to at least break even. I also want to ramp up all of my passive income sources, including revenue-sharing sites like this one. Since I'm in school right now and I have precious little time for writing, I like the idea of passive income much more than trading time for money. I'm hoping that eventually I can live off of passive income so I have the freedom and security to do whatever I want with my time.

I still plan to keep checking in here. It's a habit I can't seem to break. I also hope our friendship will continue on.

Brenda, I am very sorry about your son. I will pray. I'd hold off on that web page until you see what changes your son's diagnosis brings to your own life.

BarbRad wrote on January 14, 2016, 4:31 AM

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by Barbscreate-A_Book.

BarbRad wrote on January 14, 2016, 4:45 AM

Kara, it takes a lot of time to make a blog pay real income. Google pays peanuts. You will only make money if you sell something. The course I am taking may still be on special. It went on special Monday for a limited time. You can find out what I'm doing here: http://barbs-writing-life.info/how-to-monetize-your-blog-or-webpages/ . I think you will find it useful. (This is not an affiliate link, so it should be legal here. )

I'm sorry it's difficult for you to post here--I have always enjoyed your posts! It seems that the ads, especially the video ones that run automatically, are creating a demand on people's browsers that makes the site user-UNfriendly. I understand the need to make money, but I wish there was a way to eliminate these problems, since other sites don't seem to have them!

cmoneyspinner wrote on January 16, 2016, 4:26 PM

It's good to set realistic goals and then set out to achieve. I have a few objectives in mind but nothing written in concrete. Testing new tools and resources to see if they can speed up my work process. Have to try these out since I can't get any of my kids to work for me. :)

Wow such a great plan and a great thing to do! I wish I could do it too... But until now I haven't have much luck in making my hubpages active, and I still don't know how earn from there until now... I hope you can give us a tip. I don't know about Zazzle, but God bless all the works of your hands in Jesus name, Amen!

RuthCox wrote on January 21, 2016, 9:47 AM

Your plan is one I need to adopt for myself this year! First I need to get my personal life in order, which I am working on, as you well know. Unfortunately, finances are entwined with that too so I better step up the writing pace too!

Great new ways and tips, thanks: smart it; affiliate selling it; link it up--way too go; All the best!
