Sometimes You Just Sleigh Me
A Review of the Movie CHRISTMAS TOWN
I am, at the moment, watching the movie CHRISTMAS TOWN. It takes place in the town of Hollytown, which is the alternate location for the North Pole and the home of N.P. Enterprises. The town is populated by people who left their old lives in search of something better, and found something to believe in.
The story is set in the few days leading up to Christmas, when Santa is getting ready to head out on his world tour of chimneys. His sleigh is in the shop because it is having a problem taking sharp corners, and it's only 2 hours until Christmas Eve in New Zealand, where it's already tomorrow.
The main characters in the story are a divorced mom with a pre-teen son whose banker father leaves his job and moves to Hollyville. The mom grew up without a mom and her banker father raised her to be practical and hardworking. Now she's a workaholic realtor whose cell phone is practically attached to her ear.
The story has several sub-plots, and of course the main plot of the workaholic mom finding the "real meaning of Christmas."
