Walking the beach for exercise
When I first started walking for exercise I started on the beach, and why not, since I live only a block away. However, over time I found that it was not a very good place to walk for exercise.
If you want to just take a morning of evening stroll it is just fine since you are not walking fast or long distances.
If you are walking it for exercise you have a couple of things to deal with.
First you have to deal with the tides. If the tide is low you will have a relatively flat surface to walk on down by the water’s edge. However, if the tide is high or in between, chances are you will be walking on a slope which can be very difficult on the legs.
If you cannot walk on the hard pack sand along the water’s edge, beach walking is extremely difficult in the soft sand as it is not a firm walking surface and it is a struggle to walk.
I tried it for a while, but now I normally walk the sidewalk or streets. Sometimes I will walk the beach, but only at low tide.
