Smiling from ear-to-ear

I love it when things fall into place and are "easy-peasy."

Last night I wrote a quick follow-up email to the research oncologist that is part of my team. I wanted to make sure that the order for my Octreotide had been put in for me to pick up today at the Veterans' Medical Center. If not, I needed to change my plans.

As serendipity would have it, he received it and 26 minutes later replied that it was ready to be picked up, adding "Please let me know if there are any problems getting the prescription. Have a nice holiday season and don't hesitate to contact me with any new issues."

This is the way that a relationship works when there is respect, trust, and honesty between people in the world.

I recognize that things could change and it not be so easy someday, but it sure is nice that it is for now. I so appreciate this doctor.

It is also the start of the holiday season. Glad everything is starting to work out in small ways.

That is great that it all fell into place in a quick manner for you in this instance.

It makes life SO much easier, when there is mutual trust and people do what they say they will.

I'm glad that everything worked out. It seems that you have a pretty good team of doctors, and that's what you want.

Glad the VA is working for you. I hear so many complaints that it isn't serving the needs of veterans and that they are dying in the halls waiting to see a doctor. Do you think this is being exaggerated or is this only in some parts of the country. I seems you aren't having such problems.

I think that we certainly have an issue of more people in the system and not enough healthcare professionals. So, the system is overloaded. With the fact that most veterans are now rated with some sort of "disability" (I shall keep those comments to myself for now), it has exacerbated the problem. Then, of course, media gets on the bandwagon. Are there issues? Of course there are. Are they what the media presents? I cannot say in all fairness. After all, journalists are to be unbiased, right? No sensationalism. That's what is professional journalism, as I remember being taught back in the 1960s and 70s.
