Follow All New Members

Joined this community in Feb 2015. As with most sites, after settling in (which took about 3 months), immediately developed my quirks (or “self-enforce rules”).
These Are My Rules
In addition to giving my fellow members a “ Thumbs Up ” ( √ ) by clicking the “Like” button because they wrote a catchy title that got me to click the link to their post, I also follow ALL new members.
Why? Three reasons.
(1) There was something about this site that attracted them to sign up. They took the time to write an Intro post and get it approved. The least I can do is let them know they registered on my FOPP Richter scale. Plus I never got into the habit of leaving comments on the member profiles .
(2) Once the Follow button is clicked, the new posts show up in my feed stream and it is so much easier than hunting down posts. Just sign in to my account and click where it says “Recent Activity” and scan the listing. Everybody's there!
(3) OK. This is the real reason. I can't stand RED X marks! When I view the Member Directory Listing and see the red X ... it has got to go!
Must see green ( √ ) or blue ( √ ) checkmarks. I'm weird like that! :)

I agree with everything you say here, cmoneyspinner. Of late, I've found it difficult to read and write here, and at my other group as well. Mostly for physical reasons, but I still enjoy my time here and I'm making every effort to make a mends. It's good to see you again!

It's good to see you too. Noticed that your username was not in the listing of new posts. Sorry you have not been feeling well. You've got a friend in me. Take care. :)

In between sorting out my blog, I plan on returning to the members' list over Christmas/New Year. I'm going to work on the one I have already downloaded then see how that compares to the latest one. But for now, I am off to write more words for my online contact who is a distributor for a health and wellness company.

Although I do welcome new members I prefer to see what they write before I follow them. I can still see their posts by checking the Home page and if any catch my eye then I will at least leave a comment. As this site grows bigger (hopefully!) following everyone will lead to a cumbersome notifications list full of stuff I don't really want to read. Best to be discriminating to begin with.

I am a new blogger here. I had been gone from bubblews for a few months, and it vaporized while I was gone, with all my old photos, ect... I am hoping this one stays awhile....lol

Those are GOOD weird reasons LOL! They are useful.

yup those are really good reasons to check out newbies, i always try to read newbie post, at one time or another we were all newbies

I smiled at your last reason. Red is associated with bad things from the time we are very young

I agree with what you are saying.

That's why I tend to use bookmarks rather than clicking "Follow." Like you, I want a sense for someone before deciding to 'follow.' I also have trouble enough keeping up with the notifications as it is. As an example, Bubblews was an absolute mess in terms of their alerts and it was quite clear that those who had 5,000 people who they 'followed' didn't even bother to use them.

All that is good stuff. Thanks for sharing. God bless.

Your reasons for following new members to the PersonaPaper community are good ones. It truly is all about building relationships and friendships along our way as we interact with others.

A fun thing I also like to do when scanning the member list is to check the locations. Is Hogwarts a real place?? (O.o) :)
cmoneyspinner wrote on November 20, 2015, 2:10 PM
Oh! OK. Yeah. I see how it is. Well be that way! :) LOL.
(My friend was trying to get me do something one time and I could not be persuaded. That was her response. "Aw-ite! Be that way!")

Welcome!
Honestly don't know if this site will go or stay. With Bubblews, I could sort of read the handwriting on the wall. But can say the FOPP members I have connected with at PersonaPaper have been consistent and persistent. We agree to disagree. We speak out loud if we're dissatisfied with something at the site. Nevertheless, we stay and press on! Some become inactive and then they get active later on. Just met one person today who decided to actually leave. But that's just one that I know of.

Leftover psychological damage from teachers in the American school system. Wielding those red pens and marking your papers with those blasted red Xs. :) CC: wolfgirl569

The members are being added on regularly. I don't want to do catch-up later.

Indeed. Although red is favorite color otherwise. :)

Now that I'm comfortable with moving around this site, my only fear is waking up one morning and the site won't be there or my account will have been deleted. I'm conditioned because it has happened before with other sites.

I do not usually follow all new members but I do welcome them here.
