You may be able to retrieve some of your Bubblews posts

Did you have Bubblews articles that you wish you had downloaded before the site shut down? Well, you may still be able to get them.

As most people know by now, Bubblews abruptly shut down a couple of days ago, without warning and without giving contributors an opportunity to download their posts from the site. Now, the site is inaccessible, and so are all the articles that were posted there.

However, all is not lost!

Google keeps a cache copy of indexed web pages. Of course, now that the Bubblews articles are no longer online, Google will soon be de-indexing them. When that happens they will, I assume, disappear from the cache. But until that happens, Google's cached copy can be accessed and downloaded. Here's how to do it:

Get a list of all your Bubbles titles that are still indexed by Googling:

[your user name] site:bubblews.com
(Don't include the brackets)

To access the cached copy of an article that appears in the resulting search listing, click on the triangle (down arrow) to the right of the url (it's just under the title of the article). You should see the world "Cached" appear. Click on that. If the article is still in the cache, it will show up. If not, you'll get a 404 error, in which case the post is not retrievable.

Here's an example:

Worth a try but you'll have to be quick. You are also likely to get posts from others who have tagged you in a post. BTW this also works for Persona Paper!

I just saw that they shut down. I knew it was coming. I hadn't written there in quite a while. My articles aren't worth retrieving

I've retrieved and recycled the ooze posts I wanted. I'm glad they're finally gone but, ain't it like Arvind Dixitallup to not be mature enough to give folks time to remove anything?

Thanks for posting this. I just may give it a try and see what happens. I am curious.

I just tried it and it doesn't work. I couldn't find any of mine and the ones of others I did see, I clicked onto and that "goodbye" message was up.

Thanks for the information. I went and searched my old posts, some of them anyway. There weren't many that I felt like keeping.

Thanks for the information. Fortunately I kept Word copies of all of my articles.

LeaPea2417 , you must click the triangle, not the article title or link. If you click the triangle next to the url, you should get the "Cached" box, not the "goodbye" message. If you're still having problems, post your Bubblews ID and I'll take a look.

Will give this a go later on tonight and see what I can retrieve. Thanks for the information.

Very useful information. Thanks very much. I don't need it for bubblews but useful for other places. I got over 6,000 results for me on PP! Of course, that includes all the comments where I am tagged too. LOL
