The allure of working at The Gap is gone

Back in my high school and college days, I used to work at The Gap. Sure I made minimum wage (or close to it), but the best perk of the job was getting 50% off a certain number of full priced items each month (usually 4 tops 4 bottoms) and 30% off unlimited sale priced items. Even when I worked my way up to assistant manager in college, the best part of the job was the discount.
These days it seems like every other week Gap stores and Gap.com is having a 40% off sale. Sure, you need to have a code but you'd have to be blind AND going out of your way not to see it as it continually pops up on your screen in various ads not to notice it. Most of the time there is no restriction on what the 40% discount is on (full-priced or sale) so it all kind of evens out in the end compared to the 50/30% employee discount.
Why put up with folding and refolding and refolding yet again piles upon piles of shirts and jeans for minimum wage for just about the same discount that everyone else is getting these days? You can make so much more money waiting tables.

It appears that there isn't much of an incentive to work at the Gap today.

If one is GOOD, they will make more waiting on tables. I have come across many a horrible wait staff person in recent days.
