Not everyone has a purpose

I watched the Current Affairs program tonight .. Oprah Winfrey interview.. I love Oprah and I think her life is inspiring because she broke the cycle of poverty in her family..

She said that everyone has a purpose.. I've heard a lot of people like her who succeeded in their lives talk about "purpose". So when people say the word purpose, it sounds wonderful. Purpose is attached to success. But we know that there are more people in this world who live desperately poor, no education and got themselves involved in all sorts of crimes. Then they keep multiplying. They have no hope in getting out of their desperate predicament..

When Oprah said that everyone has a purpose, I thought no! It's not true!..

On the news tonight, an 11 years old girl named Zoe was found dead in her bedroom by her mother and a 29 years old man is now under police guard in the hospital. What is the purpose of this 11 years old girl being born and have her life cut short? What is the purpose my nephew's baby dying 3 days after birth? What is the purpose of the thousands of refugees lost at sea?

To me the experience of life is to be enjoyed, but there are more people who are not enjoying life .. Millions of people in this world are suffering from various reasons .. So, I don't think everyone has a purpose, but I believe that LIFE as a WHOLE has a purpose and only those who are born at the right time and be at the right place are fortunate enough to partake in that grand PURPOSE .. Life for individuals is just a series of flukes ..

You do make a good point, there are so many suffering and why do some suffer more than others.

Yea you do make a fine point but look on the bright side maybe those who have died earlier then expected even by nasty ways did live for a purpose and that purpose was to put away that person that did the crime so they would not do it again to someone else. That is sad.

I agree with you on that. People who find their purpose want to have their lives meaningful
