Yucky News at the Oil Change Shop

The other day I did an oil change mystery shop. All went well and they didn't find any big problems with my car, which is always a relief to me.

What they did find was a mouse nest under or behind the oil filter, (I think they said oil filter)! Yuck! I had noticed a smell when I was driving my car and I was thinking I needed to do a good cleaning of the interior and search for some forgotten lunch or something. But now I know it was mice. I am assuming one or more must have died and that was the smell.

Now I notice that smell when I drive the truck, so I am bugging my husband to check under the hood. I don't want the job. LOL

The nest in the car was apparently hidden until they took off the filter; so check thoroughly if you live anywhere with an abundance of mice.

Note: I am doing a quick check in from the library. I have had too many notices while on PP saying the site is dangerous to my computer. My computer is getting fixed, but I will be afraid to use it to come to this site. Even here at the library I have had that notice more than 3 times this morning. I've tried Chrome IE and Firefox.

I imagine that smell from the mice nest was pretty unpleasant. Ugh! I am running both an anti-virus and an anti-malware program myself. I've encountered those malicious pop-ups twice now, but find if I simply use the back button on my tool bar until I return to the Activity page, the pop-ups go away with no damage done.

A mouse nest. That's a dangerous place for a mouse to build a nest but maybe less dangerous than some other places (to the mouse I mean).

I once found a blackbird's nest under my hood - the eggs were ready cooked!

Where do you park your car? If you kept it in a garage, the mice could be coming from your garage.

My guess is that the ads on here are being blocked due to spam filters so its showing on your virus protection? Persona paper is always very slow for me but I have had no problems with viruses or anything thankfully. That is neat that you do the mystery shopping I wanted to do it years ago but I do not think I would be very good at it. I have had issues with mice in my vehicles as well. It makes you wonder how in the world they can get in there with as high off the ground a vehicle is. Somehow they must climb the tires is all I can figure.

Ewwww! So sorry you've had such a nasty encounter, Paige. I, for one, am not at all a fan of mice. They creep me out. Not that I'd ever harm one. They do serve a valid purpose in nature in the way of getting rid of certain things, but certainly not under your car!

I do that too. But that pop up has already happened again today, the first time I've been to PP since the 26th. And I've never encountered it anywhere else. Very annoying.

This is extremely common. We've had 'em!

Good that your oil change solved the nasty scent mystery! It seems the field mice look for dry, warm places to nest in the cold weather. I had mice take up residence in my glove compartment last winter.

Oh man! I hope someone can get rid of the mice nest! And I hope things are okay with visiting PP - someone else mentioned the same thing recently. I haven't had any issues yet, so hopefully it'll be taken care of soon.
