Computer Up and Running

Having been offline for nearly three months while moving from Florida to Ohio, I was so looking forward to finally plugging my desktop computer into an internet connection and being reconnected to my net family, as well as writing online for extra income. My excitement was short-lived, as my computer decided to go wonky on me within a couple of days of being reconnected! After a few days of fighting with my old HP and about to give up on getting it working properly, I chose to restore it to its original factory condition. It is up and running!

But of course, I am now spending hours reinstalling software and such. But that's okay for my computer is working like new. Unfortunately, I lost a few things in the restoration process, most importantly -- my Corel graphics program. It will be a tidbit of time before I can afford to replace it, but I will work with free programs in the meantime.

The first thing I did with images was to set a picture of my dog Valentino as my background on my computer desktop. It is clear to see that my boy is happy here in his back yard in Ohio, don't ya think?

Computers are wonderful things until they go wrong. There is plenty of free graphics programs online - GIMP has a very good reputation but I found it over-complicated for my needs. Valentine looks quite content there!

Welcome to Ohio and back to Persona Paper! I'm near Cedar Point -- are you anywhere nearby?

Yes, Kasman , I am utilizing Gimp, at the moment. Valentino is quite content here and so am I, thankfully.

Thanks, Feisty56 . I am near Columbus (Canal Winchester) but I have been to Cedar Point amusement park as a kid since I grew up in Ohio.

You might be in wolfgirl569 's vicinity. : ) If ever you should get up this way, let me know. Would be great to meet for coffee or check out Cedar Point together.

I am glad you got it going again. Hubbies died but luckily I had got my old lap top working by that time

Glad it worked, Ruth, and glad you are back. Valentino does look very happy to have his own territory again. Hope you can live in peace with no new crises for a while.

There are ways oftentimes to snatch graphics off a harddrive when a computer goes wrong. But it is well-worthwhile to restore a machine that has software issues.

You remind me that I need to do a follow-up to this post! Fortunately I did not lose much so I am okay with the restore needing to be done.
