A Change of Pace
I don't know how many of you remember that I was going to school for Early Childhood Education. Once I switched from Home Daycare to a full time job outside the home in a desk environment, I changed majors thinking it would overall, be better for me. It turns out... it wasn't for me. My passion is with the kids. While in home care is NOT what I want, it doesn't stop me from wanting to be a preschool teacher like I had originally had in mind for myself.
An opportunity was given to me out of the blue, and I took that opportunity! I will now be a preschool teacher starting next Monday. It's in a good place, and it is where I want to be. I've gone back to my Early Childhood Education major and am happy to be back on track to where I wanted to be to start with.
That said, this past week we have had 4 sick kids (luckily, we only have 4) and a soccer game and a gymnastics competition. I took off Friday myself for not feeling well, and tomorrow, my work is closed. I'm going to be spending some time on here after my homework is complete this evening and tomorrow. I'll be trying to get through some posts, flag things where needed and try to interact to let people know that I am here.
I'm hoping that Will and I will be able to sit down and also have a discussion of adding those moderators into effect.

Glad you have got into the job you wanted. It's not a job when you are doing something you love! Mind you, that doesn't mean it can't be hard work!
Hope the children are all better soon.

It is so good to hear from you. Congratulations on the new job! And I am glad to hear that you are going back to your "passion."

Wow. Best of luck hon! You are always in my thoughts whenever anyone mentions daycare in my hearing these days. In fact, I have written a few posts lately hoping to have your input, as you know so much more about child care and early years schooling/raising than I ever will. Thanks to my mother-in-law's input I'm aware that my attitude to raising a child is probably offensive to more people than care to admit it to me. I'll be sending prayers for you.I', assuming by 'next Monday' you mean Monday 10/19?

It's good that you will be doing what you've wanted to do for a long time. You've got quite the busy life.

It's just as well you found out what didn't work for you so you can go full steam ahead with your interest. I hope the kids and you are feeling better. One sick child is tough -- four of them must be a nightmare. Congrats on the new job!

Thanks for the update. I will feel better about continuing to promote the site when I can get a better picture of what's happening here. I hope everyone gets and stays well, and that your life will get a bit less hectic.

You are so very busy these days MaeLou and I think that is really great to have a lot of things to do just always take care of yourself. Too much of everything is not good. I think this will be an inspiration for everyone to do what they really want in life their first choice, and do not settle for second best. God bless the works of your hands.

Life does take us in different ways. I am glad to hear you are doing what you truly love doing. That makes it all worth it. The bottom line here is, follow your passions. They are usually correct.

My daughter and my granddaughter are pre-school teachers. It is a great gift to care for young ones. Thank you for the loving service that you do. I recall going back to school to further my nursing degree when my kids were in HS and JR Hi. It was a challenge to say the least. Well worth it though.

Congrats on your new job! You are very lucky to get that opportunity. Hope it works out well for you. Sorry the kiddos were sick though. I know that is no fun at all.

I know this is kind of old, but I just joined. As you know. :)
I love to read or hear about someone landing a job they really want and end up loving. It's so rare and one of the most important things any of us grown ups can do is care for and educate the kiddos.
