Why I Write Here at Persona Paper

It is not a secret that I love Persona Paper.

I am not talking about a platform or features. Nor is it because they give me an opportunity to write or make a little bit of money doing so.

Platforms and features are a dime-a-dozen. One can write, whether there are computers, or online sites, or not.

If it is a little money you need, there are a myriad of options available --collecting aluminum cans for recycling; getting a part-time job; or standing on a corner with a cardboard sign, "Hungry-Need Help." All have worked for others looking for a little bit of money.

I write here at Persona Paper because of the people.

All the other things mentioned are certainly a side benefit. I am grateful for all that I experience, but the bottom line for me is the PEOPLE.

These last few days I have felt overwhelmed and a bit blue. Signing in here was not a priority, but it has become a practice.

Here are three articles that were sitting in my queue when I showed up. Each made a difference in my life, because of the people who wrote them, and the relationships we have forged using this platform:

  • Honest mom, I did brush my teeth! by Kasman . This is one of the funniest stories I have ever read, that our dear Mr. K wrote as the winner of the first ever BEST CAPTION Writing Contest/Challenge. He stepped up to the task, and was brilliant, all the way through! I needed this laughter this morning!
  • Into each life a little rain may fall by &AbbyG . This woman's down-to-earth, honest approach to every day she wakes up is so refreshing. Our AbbyG "tells life like it is," and I so appreciate her. If I could ever have been given a big sister, I would have wanted it to be her.
  • Attracting and Keeping New Members by Feisty56 . Deb Jones is one of the most supportive people I have ever known on- and off-line. Her commitment to those who have earned her trust is remarkable, and when she believes in something or someone, she puts action behind her words. Thank you, Deb, for being part of my "tribe."

There are so many people here on Persona Paper that mean so much to me. I love each and every one. They have become like family.

But today, I started my day with these three, who seemed to know exactly what I needed today.

Yes, it is true. I write here at Persona Paper because of the people.

Note from Author: I invite you to use the links and read each of the articles I mentioned above. You may be reminded of just how important laughter, life, and friendship is to us all.

This is such a beautiful post CoralLevang and I agree with everything you have said. We should never undermine the importance of friendships and Persona Paper allows us to go beyond geographical, racial or religious lines and get to know each other a little bit better and grow as human beings.

Thank you so very much, Dawnwriter . I just wrote from my heart.

The people here make the site, after all. When this site grows, those you mentioned will be seen as icons. So will you.

I too used to like the community here when I was active. But I had to go through a bit of a rough patch in life from last December to this March/April.. I was away from all the sites I used to write on. I then started again, but the developments here discouraged me to continue.. I don't know why I kept on visiting the site (many times even without logging in). Finally I decided to come back again and see if it works out for me..
Also, I like the oldie-type, simple, and kind of cool-green shaded design of this site :)

Kasman wrote on October 11, 2015, 3:28 PM

The sense of community is also what keeps me here. Although it is most unlikely that I will ever meet any member in person I still regard my connections here as friends.

MegL wrote on October 11, 2015, 3:32 PM

Yes, it's great when an article just magically seems to meet a need we have at that time emoticon

&AbbyG You have no idea how much I think you and I are cut from similar cloth. I promise not to let anyone know that you are really a softie. emoticon :winking: Me, too. And I won't admit again! LOL

It made me smile to read this, Coral. I write for the interaction with people, too. I never fit in at school, and therefore I hated it, but when I write, I don't have to fit in with anyone...but here, as with the other group I belong to, I already feel like I have new friends. I haven't been able to write for a couple of days, but I do look forward to reading those of you who have been following and reading me. I really like it here, and I'm hoping to be around for a while.

I have stayed because of the people. Anymore I dont like other sites because they do not feel as open and friendly.

I understand what you are saying in this post and know just how you feel. Many have been the time my spirits have been raised by the wonderful articles posted by our fellow PPers.

Awwww I guess I'm not too old to blush yet -yea! Seriously, thank you for the mention and for some of the kindest words I've ever had said about me. Like you, I come here and keep coming back for the members and the community. I've been a member of a lot of sites over the years, but it is here at Persona Paper that I feel most at home.

I rite because I know what I can say pretty much whatever I want without having a hundred sets of eyes judging me. If I say something that offends someone then so be it. Its a lot easier to admit you are sad, upset, depressed or confused with there's little or no chance of someone confronting you face to face about it

Paulie wrote on October 12, 2015, 1:19 AM

Yes, it is very obvious that you truly write here because of the people. Persona Paper should have more members like you!

You did a good job here, giving a shout out to these PPers and their respective posts!

Thank you for sharing your gems. I've been out of town with only minutes on the computer this weekend until today, and then I had to catch up with posting at the time of day when I write best. Hoping to catch up on some reading now. Thanks for pointing out the gems I should not miss. You are one of my special people here.

CoralLevang wrote on October 12, 2015, 5:00 AM

I hope you are, too.

I, like you, never "fit in." I still find that I don't often "fit in."
It really is about finding the right people to be with, as I am learning. It's taken me 60 years to learn it. emoticon :winking:

"...spirits have been raised..."

This is so important. I try to remember each day that my words may be long forgotten, but I hope that I can be of influence to help others feel good about themselves and the world around them.

CoralLevang wrote on October 12, 2015, 5:06 AM

Paulie Thanks for the kind words. But I think that there are times when some don't quite know what to do with me. emoticon :winking: More of me? I'm not so sure that would be a great idea! LOL

CoralLevang wrote on October 12, 2015, 5:07 AM

BarbRad Always good to see you. Hope you had a nice time out-of-town. Thank you for the kind words. emoticon

I like writing here also. I do like the people here. And that is how I feel about the B site. It is more about the people there than anything else. I have some greta friends there. Sadly the site is not working right and hasn't ben for quite a while now. And the M site, that is my home online. I cant help it. They were there in the begging and I made many friends there. Some of them went to the B site and here. And they all seem to be coming back home there. So, I have a major loyalty there. But that doesn't mean I don't like it here, I do. I do enjoy it here. I just haven't been pending much time here because of other sites. And not just writing sites either. I do hope that they keep this site going and make it work. If by chance it ever does close down, I will feel lost once again with the friends I had made here. I hate when that happens.

Waoh this is also the reason why i have come to love sites like this one. I have managed to make friends and even becoming friends on Facebook where we chat now and then. It is lovely
