There's An Elephant In The Room at Persona Paper

There’s An Elephant In The Room at Persona Paper

...And maybe we ought to talk about it before there’s a stampede - of sorts.

A LOT of us have come to Persona Paper from another place. Some with a bit of trouble in our heads and hearts for that place.

Even though I hadn’t been to that place for quite some time (actively), I’m a fairly smart cookie and I hear things. I know things. And I keep things tucked away because SOME things are better that way.

So here’s my “ought to talk” about the elephant in the room...

We are here. And here is really cool. The Founder (from what I’m gleaning) saw a need for a happy place where we can commune and grow without the trouble we’ve been having elsewhere.

We need to leave our troubles at the door.
We need to embrace the goodness here.
We need to move forward positively.
We need to be happy this is here, now.

No one wants any trouble (I’m ASSuMiNG), right? And words matter , RIGHT?

So, all I’m saying, is just be careful what you say (write) about where you’ve been and what you’ve done elsewhere.

Enjoy this here, now.

Besides all that above? It’s incredibly unprofessional to bad mouth any hand that feeds you or has ever fed you. Just sayin’...though the hubs says sometimes I should only just be thinkin’ ;)

Cheers!

One reason I loved that Elephant initially was the concept of the site, and the ability to write short posts about thoughts etc. But I think they got ahead of themselves too quickly. This site, as you have said, seems to be a happy place and you are right in saying that there is no need to bring that, here. However I do feel that there are things people are annoyed about regarding the other site and although we can't and shouldn't bad mouth them, I believe we should be free to offer constructive criticism about it, and well, just get some things off our chests.

You are right in regard to offering constructively. But I've seen some crap already and so I was offering some thoughts - re: getting ahead too quickly...notice any difference here? Not to compare but...now that could lead to some discussion, perhaps privately, lol.

I'm ever hopeful always in all things but today, in this thing :)

Hope you are well, my friend. I have to go fold laundry, yuck. emoticon  Talk soon :)

Firstly your hubs and my wife are of the same mind.....

I do not have anything bad to say over here about over there, because without over there, over here would not exist, because I suspect the founders over here, were over there and started this over here to improve on over there. Got that. Gotta go now it is time for my meds.

LMAO - you KNOW I totally understood that - pass the meds... and exactly. Evolution, tis a beautiful thing :)

*sets fire to the elephant and roasts marshmallows*

I miss something?

SandraLynn wrote on June 12, 2014, 2:28 PM

No. You rarely miss a darn thing. Even when you aren't there at all :) YAY ;)

Very good advice, enjoy this site, relax and leave troubles at the door.

Much agreed! I think it is happier here precisely because user feedback is not only respected, but sought out. Constructive criticism can and should include pointing out the positives, as well as making suggestions when we see something that could be improved. Talking trash, on the other hand, simply has no place on any writing site.
