Morning Musings

My days of not working are nearly over, as October has started counting down. I have rather enjoyed not having to get up and go to work. "Semi-retired," some may call it. I also find that I have not drunk as much coffee as when I am working.

The nice thing has been to realize that I can survive, should I decide to live on my veteran's compensation, and start drawing down on my IRA, until I am Social Security eligible, if I cannot get the early SSDI. It does not mean I am well-off, but it does mean I can make it.

Today or tomorrow, I should get the contract for the new project I have been offered. It is only for a couple of weeks, maybe three, but it sounds great, and I look forward to spending time with my sister on the same project.

So, if I am not put on the schedule in November and December on the other contract I have been on for several years, I know that it is not a catastrophe. There is a beautiful freedom in knowing this.

I am going to get dressed and head out to find a cup of coffee. I will take my book with me and (hopefully) finish it today.

Good luck on the new short job. Hope it lasts longer and you can work with your sister even more.

Glad you have enjoyed your trial retirement and are no longer afraid of doing it when you are ready. Have a good day while you are out.

I look forward to feeling that freedom you've enjoyed over the last couple of months. I get a tiny taste of it every summer but the next school year is always looming over the horizon.

It's great to read that you have your finances in order. You must be very anxious looking forward to going to Texas to work with your sister.
