All Kinds Of Art

All kinds of different artists impress me from Realism, Impressionism to Abstract. I like especially Monet and bought a rather inexpensive painting of one of his for the wall. I read a biography about Vincent Van Gogh and learned about how he had a brilliant artistic ability but had a troubled and pained life. I have looked up the abstract artist, Jackson Pollock's pictures online and they are quite erratic but there is something appealing about his art work.

There is a high end magazine called "Architectural Digest". It has articles and shows the insides of homes of the extremely rich. It is so interesting to see how many will have the ultra expensive living rooms and bedrooms and hallways with big abstract paintings on the walls. You would think these paintings don't go with the furniture. But, they surprisingly do. My Mother, takes a subscription to that magazine and when she is finished reading them, she passes them on to me. I enjoy reading and looking at the photos in that magazine.

I like watercolours, but am useless at them. When in Trafalgar Square I like to pop into the National Gallery, a wide range of styles in there

Was that a reproduction Monet painting or the real deal? I have been to his home and studio in Giverny in France and seen his best works in the Parisian museums.

I own some impressionist art prints, and very much enjoy them. I recently wrote for an art website about Dali and the Dada and Surrealism movements. I just jump at stuff like that, as it gives me the ability to take time to research the works and the people who created them.

Always fascinating, I love to get lost in the imagination and vision.

I, myself, can draw a horse. Other than that, I can neither draw nor paint. lol

I prefer a more realistic type painting. But have seen some of those that appealed to me.

It is a reproduction.

I enjoy Monet's work. Van Gogh is such an enigma. It still troubles me that none of his art is said to have sold until after his death. I find Don McLean's song about Van Gogh very haunting. https://youtu.be/AVprz0nm0Y4

Many of the great artist--writers, painters, musicians--had / have troubled, painful lives.

I know about 'Architectual Digest'. It is fun to look at for I know I will own a house like what is in that magazine.

I love Architectural Digest and call it "the designer's bible". I have an issue that I use in my color theory class to illustrate the various uses of color in interior design.
