Joaquin Is Growing Up
Tropical Storm Joaquin has grown up into a full fledged Hurricane and has decided it wants to visit the US East Coast a little more closely than originally predicted. At least that is what all the models, except the European model, are showing. The center of the cone of possibility is aiming right at Cape Hatteras which would mean a lot of wind and rain coming our way. The current prediction is for land fall sometime early Sunday morning.
Currently the rains from Joaquin are supposed to be adding to our already saturated ground. The concern with that is the trees, as I think I mentioned in an earlier post, falling on power lines. Flash flooding is also a concern and there is a flash flood warning in place for our area from 8 tonight until 8 Saturday night.
I hope the European model turns out to be the right one, though it is an outlier, because it shows Joaquin turning and going out to sea without bothering us overmuch.
