One room a week

Last week it was the which was cleaned to within an inch of its life.

This week, the was my target. (I've been reading too much from megl and paigea I think...)

Once I'd put the first load of on mid-morning, I finished the washing up, then left the to dry while I sorted out some listings.

After lunch I decided to make a start on and sorting the kitchen worktops so that when Mr C arrived home from church he would be able to take the rubbish out and I could wash the floor.

I cleared and washed one section of worktop, then sprayed the hob and left the cleaner to do its work while I caught up in here. Mr C arrived back as I was finishing cleaning the hob, so he put the dishes away while I put all the bits of the hob back together (we have a 4-ring hob and I can remove the temperature knobs, take the gas ring assemblies to pieces and remove the framework which holds the pots).

I cleared and washed the next section of worktop, threw a load of extraneous packaging into the 'horse bedding box' for my colleague and started the second load of laundry. After a few more eBay listings and another sale, I put most of the items back on the worktop I'd just cleaned and finally turned my attention to the new worktop on the far side of the kitchen. That too is now washed, tidy and sorted out.

Plans for the week off we have next month include taking a trip to the local household site with things that can be from there and donating a load of non-eBayable items to the charity whose main warehouse is half a mile further down the road. That will clear a few more bags of bits off the worktops and out of the conservatory.

The two remaining tasks are for Mr C to take the rubbish out and for me to wash the floor. I think both of those may end up being done tomorrow rather than tonight as that was a good few hours of work there. But the kitchen worktops are now clean, which is a good thing.

And I have accomplished my main task of cleaning at least one room thoroughly every weekend. I'm now going to go back to the eBay listings and see whether I can list my way through another bagful of clutter before the evening is out.

So, is FLYlady's zone the kitchen this week? Or you just picked it for your needs? I am off to FLYlady.net to find out. :D

I don't know, paigea . It was my zone for the week as I LOATHE a dirty kitchen or a dirty bathroom.

There aren't that many rooms in this house, so it doesn't feel too much like the Forth Bridge.

House work is like a shower. I have one today and I still need one tomorrow. :D

The kitchen and bathroom need more attention than the other rooms, I find. My target for the week off Mr C and I are having next month is to dust the front room and rationalise the conservatory. Mr C will be trying to find me space in the loft for my eBay items, meanwhile.

Glad you are getting a lot done, it now sounds like it is time to relax some

Certainly is. I'm writing and listing eBay and waiting for supper to cook.

It sounds like y'all got a lot of work done. You made good use of your day.

That is a really good plan. I wish I could get my daughter to do the same. I live with her and it would sure be nice to have a plan. I think that a cycle that continues around and finishes up at the beginning again is a good one.

I'm guessing a worktop is a countertop, and a hob--some kind of stove? Cooktop?

FLYLady is your lass, according to MegL and others.

A worktop (or countertop) is a preparation area and a hob is the cooktop part of a cooker where it is set into the countertop.
