Tuesday Begins a Packed Week

I just got off the phone, guaranteeing reservations to stay overnight for two nights in lodging at the base near the Army hospital where RGD will be having his surgery on Thursday morning. (I still cannot believe how expensive it all is since things like housing has been privatized and the military folks make so much more money than I did in my time.)

I will have to pick him up, which will take a combined two hours to get from my place to his and then to the hospital. If his check-in is at 6 a.m., I would have to leave my place about 3:15 a.m. to be on the safe side. It just makes sense for me to stay closer to where he lives and the medical center, so I can pick him up Wednesday night, after I eat dinner, and he has finished the pre-surgery "cleansing" routine. We will be four miles/15 minutes from the hospital. I will stay Thursday night, too, so I can get him home on Friday and settled in.

I plan on taking my laptop with me, so Thursday I will try to get some reading and writing in that night, if possible.

Today, I want to clean my bathrooms, and finish up my kitchen. I need to put away all my laundry, and strip my bed to air it out before putting clean linens on it.

I already went to my local library, but will return The Jerk to the other county's library on my way in tomorrow.

I shall pop in from time-to-time to read and comment, and maybe get a new posting or two up today and tomorrow before I have to leave.

Please keep RGD in your healing thoughts and prayers. He is starting to go into his "mode" and I know he is feeling the stress of it all. I know he is worried more about the outcome and the staging of the disease, than having the surgery itself.

Prayers are with you both. If you want to read something I wrote a story about Perdy on Books. I wrote this story a while ago in a notebook and I wanted to share.

Thank you for the prayers. I'll try to check out the aforementioned article sometime soon.

Oh, he doesn't keep it to himself, but he gets pretty aggressive about other crap. I just give him a "I understand you're scared and uncertain, and if you want to talk to me about it, please do. I will listen. But if you are going to snap or bully, I need to remove myself." He usually calms down from that. LOL I wish I had learned that technique 40 years ago.

Wishing all goes great for your friend. It is probably best to stay closer so you are fully rested as the day of surgery I am sure will be tiring in itself.

wolfgirl569 I remember when he had his heart surgery in January. If he can get through that one, this one will be easier. *nods* He'll be fine.

Thank you so much DWDavisRSL . I think he's going to be fine. It's just a part of his journey. I pray it's this simple fix and he won't have to do chemo or radiation. Hopefully, they won't find that it's spread.

Learning how to ask for help is half the battle won! Thanks for your prayers.

Good luck to your friend RGD and I hope he has a very successful surgery and outcome. He certainly is very fortunate to have a caring friend like you.

That is one very early start. I really hate an early start to the day.
