A Trip To The Big City

(To be read to the tune of Willie Nelson's song " On The Road Again .")
We were on the road again
Drove up to Raleigh in the mo-ornin'
To have breakfast with our son and his girlfriend
Yes that's why we were on the road again.
And when we got there
We were the first to arrive it's clear
Because we didn't see our son so dear
So we waited for him in the morning air.
Then the girlfriend's folks arrived
And though we didn't really try to hide
They didn't see us waiting there outside
Until the two of us climbed out of our blue ride.
Before we said hello
Our son decided then that he should show
My missus face it really took on such a glow
When she saw my son arrive, you know.
Then we all went in to eat
The place was nice and the food a treat
The serving staff polite and very neat
Everyone at the table took a seat.
When the meal was done
It was time to say good-bye to our son
He had to study so off he had to run
Our visit was too short but it was fun.
And then me and the missus got on the road again.

Very creative and nicely done. I do not think Willie would have cared.

Very nice song. We spent our Sunday traveling to the big city to visit with family today too.

Willie Nelson would be mighty proud!!!
Glad you had a great time with your son, his girlfriend, and her folks!

Do you think your son is contemplating marriage with his girlfriend? This is usually the case when parents of the boyfriend and girlfriend meet in Thailand.

Marriage is in their long-term plan. Both intend to finish college first, and perhaps grad school before they tie the knot. This brunch was the second time the two families have dined together.

Haha, I think we should try to email Willie, and see if he will record this. Glad you guys had a good time with them!

Uh. Um. Yes. After a rain in summer, some of us must sing, "On the toad again..." There are so many after a rain. Or perhaps they're spring peepers. I'm not sure. One thing I do know: it's impossible not to hit one once in awhile.

Considering Willie has been toasted the last forty or fifty years, he'd probably consider recording it, or perhaps performing it when he visits Raleigh next month.

He just might. I wonder if he can work it into his current concert playlist. He'll be in our area next month.

You're probably right about that.
