A Change of Plans Tonight

Eight hours ago, I was on my way out the door to get to the library to return a book, go find something to eat at a local grocer, and then get home to begin the second season of a great TV series. Instead, I did not go out.

It started to pour down rain here, so I decided not to go anywhere. The book is not due back until tomorrow. I could round up something to eat.

Dinner was just something to get in my gut to stay alive. I find myself doing less and less in the kitchen nowadays. Tonight, it was staples I keep on hand--pinto beans, onion, garlic, and potatoes. Not fancy. No fuss. (See why I live alone? I do not have to cook anymore for someone who would not be satisfied with such a plain meal.)

I checked out two movies last week-- American Dreamz , and Argo . I had not yet watched the latter, so I made the decision to watch it, so that I can take them both back tomorrow morning before they have to be back the end of the week. Orange Is the New Black is not due for three weeks.

I will write reviews for both movies tomorrow, most likely. Suffice it to say, I watched the better of the two tonight.

Since I have fallen asleep on the couch, I suppose it is well-past time to get some sleep. I hope that you sleep well, when it your turn. And, on this my 500th post on Persona Paper, I bid you all a goodnight.

I have lived alone now since 1997, &AbbyG , and I absolutely love food, and used to love to cook. For some reason, I'm just not as interested in it nowadays. I eat to subsist more and more. Oh, I have my moments, but am more and more apt to fix peanut butter sandwiches just to make sure I eat than to plan meals anymore. :-/

Sometimes I can't be bothered about food and live on sandwiches quite happily.

Congratulations on the 500th post. Hope you slept well, I always sleep better when it is raining

Thank you. Sleeping is spotty, though. emoticon :winking:

I'm right there with you. Sandwiches or cereal and milk/yogurt.

I'm sorry American Dreams was so bad for you. I caught your review for that and forgot to comment on it. I liked it for the political satire as well as poking fun at American Idol. Argo is one of the few movies with Ben Affleck in it that I can stand watching. I think he did a fantastic job.

I'm with you on living on staples. I go through periods where I live on chips and dip..summer's I usually eat more fish. And of course I cook a lot too. But sometimes I just can't be bothered.

No worries. But I think...American Dreamz wasn't really political satire, in my opinion, it was just a slam on GWB. I'm okay with making fun of people and policy, but this was nothing more than a slam on him. It did an okay job on the poking fun at Idol.
Argo was brilliant; not finished with review yet. In my drafts.

Most of the time, anymore, I can't be bothered.

I hope you got some sleep. Hey, beans and taters is a fantastic meal. Anyone who'd complain about a meal like that is an a$$hole.

LoudMan wrote on September 3, 2015, 1:26 PM

It's been burritos for me lately, if not lettuce wraps.

CoralLevang wrote on September 3, 2015, 2:00 PM

Ooooh...there ya go! Lettuce wraps. You just gave me more ideas. I am a corn tortilla gal, so I make taco-type thingies, too. LOL

CoralLevang wrote on September 3, 2015, 2:01 PM

It's filling. Healthy. And no fuss. And it fits in tortillas and gets the job done (of eating).

Sometimes simple is the best thing for dinner. I am no fan of running around in the rain either. You made the right choice. As for the movie Argo, I have not seen it but heard many good things about it.

You put me to shame. I only have 319 articles. I wish we had your rain.

CoralLevang wrote on September 4, 2015, 4:54 AM

Oh, Steven, it was unbelievably good. The movie, I mean. The beans and potatoes...well, were just beans and taters. emoticon :winking:

CoralLevang wrote on September 4, 2015, 4:55 AM

It's taken me over a year to get there. Hardly a feat, but thank you. I love your drive in what other things you do.

Congratulations on the 500th post! I have not watched these movies so I am looking forward to your reviews.

CoralLevang wrote on September 5, 2015, 4:02 PM

Argo is about the 1979/1980 Iran hostage crisis. EXCELLENT film. Don't bother with the other. Seriously. I wrote that review.

Congrats on reaching the half-a-millennium mark on posts. When I lived alone, one of my staple meals was tortilla chips topped with fried ground beef and cheese, baked in the oven until the cheese was good and melted.

Now, that sounds good. Now I'm hungry. LOL
