Running Around in Circles Getting Nowhere, or So it Seems

There are too many new things in my life and I don't have time to keep up with all of them. Sunday we went to the home expo show and we wound up buying new REM adjustable beds. I already have an adjustable bed my mom bought almost twenty years ago, but the technology has greatly improved. We both decided we would sleep better on these beds than we have been sleeping.

The only problem is, we have to make room for the new beds, and that means getting rid of two old beds. We'd like to move the old adjustable bed into a room where we currently have two matching twin beds. The problem is that the new beds are extra long twins, as is my old bed, and the bed whose space we want to move my old bed into is a regular twin that barely fits on that wall. The other problem is that that room has been used for storage and we will probably have to put the old bed on the opposite wall. Both beds are full of stuff and so is the surrounding floor.

I have quite a moving job to do, and I have no idea where I'm going to put everything. I hope the beds don't come early. I had a bad headache for the past three days, but today I started trying to move some stuff off the floor. The beds could be delivered as early as the end of next week. So that's one reason you haven't seen me here much and probably won't until the beds are delivered and the mess cleaned up as much as it can be.

Then, of course, two of the sites I work on have approaching deadlines for making changes. I have two Zazzle stores that need to go into the new style they have changed to. The new style will go live in a day or two. I have almost finished that. HubPages is also making changes and I have to convert a few video hubs to regular hubs very soon.

I hope this will help explain my absence here. I have had to give up most writing and social networking until these projects are finished. Hope to be back writing again in a couple of weeks.

If it ain't one thing, it's ten, all at once, huh.

Life is not a bed of roses sometimes. Since you are talking about beds I may as well say it emoticon

Cute video. I shared it on FB. You have really given them all a peaceful atmosphere.

You sound very busy right now. For making room I have found that measuring my wall space and my furniture helps a lot. I can then draw it on paper and get a small idea of how it will look and how well pieces will fit. I wish you luck that they dont arrive before you are ready for them.

I wish you a stress-free evolution as you prepare for your new purchase!

You've got it. To top it off, my husband will be home more than usual in the daytime, so it will be harder to move things around.

BarbRad wrote on September 3, 2015, 1:09 PM

The new beds are wonderful. They have a remote control to adjust them, unlike the control on a cord that keeps falling on the floor when I am reaching for it half-asleep.

BarbRad wrote on September 3, 2015, 1:09 PM

What video?

BarbRad wrote on September 3, 2015, 1:10 PM

My current bed goes up and down, and it doesn't really mess the sheets up because the bed is long like a king.

BarbRad wrote on September 3, 2015, 1:11 PM

Thanks. We hadn't thought of buying a bed when we went to the show. So we didn't think to measure. It was a rush deal to get the special price.

BarbRad wrote on September 3, 2015, 1:12 PM

Thanks. Better add your prayers for that to happen. Stress is part of the game.

I do hope everything will get settled and calm and peace will be there for you in the coming days.

All that moving is not easy. And those beds are heavy, not like regular beds. Take your time and pace yourself. Maybe you can sell the old adjustable and make some cash.

I am a simple body. No controls of any kind for our bed emoticon

Ah, Zazzle and I do not get on. Thanks for the reminder that I really need to yank my store there. Otherwise, take it easy, be careful moving those beds around, and see you back in a while.

Speaking of Hubpages, I have been neglecting it because I have been spending much of my time here. I guess I got discouraged on HP when CPMs and view went drastically down this summer.

BarbRad wrote on September 6, 2015, 6:22 PM

Me, too. I got a substitute to write one of my review blogs for a cooperative site. It's really nice to be able to take a week off when life gets really busy.

BarbRad wrote on September 6, 2015, 6:23 PM

i thought about selling it, but I'm still sleeping on it until the new bed is delivered and there's no place to store it while waiting for it to sell.

BarbRad wrote on September 6, 2015, 6:44 PM

Have you really given Zazzle a chance? I'm certainly no super seller, but I've made enough to make the time worth while.

BarbRad wrote on September 6, 2015, 6:46 PM

My earnings have also gone down, but some of it may be my own fault. Some of my hubs really do need updating, as I found out yesterday when I went to correct a couple of dead links.

VinceSummers wrote on September 6, 2015, 8:51 PM

Sleep plays such an important role in the lives of us oldsters.

Paulie wrote on September 6, 2015, 11:01 PM

I also need to update my hubs. All I need is a good plan and the motivation to jump into it.

BarbRad wrote on September 7, 2015, 4:00 AM

I've been correcting errors in several of mine tonight.

WordChazer wrote on September 7, 2015, 1:54 PM

I have given Zazzle a chance, but keep getting my items pulled for infringing some unknown copyright or other. I get NO views (consistently, week after week, it's really depressing!) and have made not a red cent since I have been there. I have therefore earned even less there than I have on certain other revshare writing sites I could name.

I really should get more of it, but my computer and the books I read call to me way past bedtime.

VinceSummers wrote on September 7, 2015, 3:35 PM

Yes, the computer. How well I know it. But I find I just plain HAVE TO get off the computer now. Increased risk of migraines, otherwise, you know.

BarbRad wrote on September 7, 2015, 6:55 PM

I've also had a couple of photos pulled for trademark infringement. What did you do to market your designs?

WordChazer wrote on September 8, 2015, 2:55 PM

Shared them on Twitter, as I do with most things worth sharing.

According to Zazzle, one phrase I used: 'this is not just...(x)...this is (X)' is copyright Terry Pratchett and estate. I've never been able to settle that as the estate of Mr P has yet to respond to my question. However, our store Marks & Spencer, who used the phrase in 'this is not just (food), this is (Marks & Spencer food)' was intrigued to hear of Zazzle's allegations.

After that, I lost the will to bother too much with their site. I used it as a way to illustrate articles for which there were no stock photos, as suggested by a friend of mine who is Single Sided Deaf and couldn't find a THING to illustrate her series of articles on the topic. So she designed a whole range of items on Zazzle and makes a mint from selling them to other SSD and Deaf-aware types as a bonus to using them on her articles.

I am thinking that the beds you are talking about are the ones where you can change the settings to make one side firmer or less firm depending on how you like it. I stayed at a Ronald Mcdonald house that had one of those once and honestly I hated it. Those were very old I think though. They probably have much nicer ones now like you said in your article.

BarbRad wrote on September 10, 2015, 3:25 AM

These beds don't adjust the mattress firmness, just the positions of your head and feet, and you can have each position set separately. There is also a massage you can adjust.
