America Exports Junk To the World

Everyone knows that the USA once had such a thriving economy that it was able to export many high quality manufactured items to countries around the world. This included ships, passenger trains, television sets, etc. No longer. Big corporations sold the American worker down the river long ago.

So what does the USA export abroad nowadays? Well, military weapons, passenger jets, and automobiles are still made in America but even the days for these items are numbered. Boeing is starting to build jets in China and in the bargain is giving the Chinese govt the technology so they can pass it on to Chinese companies to build passenger jets in the future.

Just recently General Motors, a company that was bailed out by US taxpayers several years ago to keep it from collapsing, has announced the introduction of cars from GM built at their plants in China to be sold in America. This situation has caused GM union workers in the USA to threaten a strike.

I want to say that some of the biggest exports that America sends globally are junk food, primarily fast food such as McDonald's and KFC, and junk Hollywood action films. This is such a sad state of affairs for a once great nation to have dwindled down to selling junk to the world.

What you describe is a painful state of affairs all too true. Other than technology, the US isn't producing anything tangible or inventing anything earth shattering or making great discoveries in medicine and science. You forget to mention America's greatest gift to the universe: Facebook.
