OK, OK, I give in...I'll admit I write for sanity

The image is of a Commodore 64. When I play games, I tend to play on gear, because that too brings .

But when I'm looking for something to fill the time, I and .

At present I’m helping a friend and fellow populate his new site with content. I’ve also just accepted a request to write about and their importance to life, as I’m the dayjob office printer rep, so it’s a subject I know a bit about. I spent the weekend messing around on and fiddling with a paid-for app which teaches children to tell the . The developer wanted an adult to test drive it, and being a hound, I took up the challenge. The resulting article will soon be live on my blog.

This week the is going to become even more important than usual, because I am about to start a course of tomorrow, so I will be unable to drink . If I am going to make it through to next Tuesday without losing my marbles, I will have to write solidly to cover the gaps where I would usually enjoy a glass or two of after work.

In the meantime I’m going to everything I can here then vamoose back to the writing, because I have two pieces I need to complete in the next 24 in order to meet my self-imposed deadlines.

I didn't know you shouldn't drink when on a course of antibiotics. Hope you are not feeling TOO ill and that the antibiotics help you recover quickly. Look forward to seeing all the writing!

Looking forward to increased posts from you. Good luck on the antibiotic treatment and in reaching your goals.

I'm not an expert on antibiotics so I don't know if it's standard that alcohol and antibiotics don't mix. However these state plainly on the label: Take ONE a day THREE times a day. DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL.

I remember my friend telling me a few months back that she was on antibiotics so couldn't join us in a drink, so maybe it's a standard requirement. However, I am now preloaded and sent off in style thanks to a friend of ours and his fortnightly DJ slot on an internet radio station. Tomorrow, the wagon awaits. I will probably look and feel a lot better in a week's time, although I don't feel 'ill' as such now.

The one thing I can say is that I am by preference a sober writer. I get almost nothing of substance finished when I've had a few. Articles are tinkered with, comments can be badly written, tweets filled with spelling errors, but it's easier to read the news or other articles when I'm drunk rather than having to post comments or construe sentences.

Thanks for the good luck. Hope to have time to come in here and read/comment although the amount of writing my friend wants me to produce by next weekend I think I'll be eating, sleeping and dreaming about his site by then.

If only I had the drive you have, I would be a much better writer. Good luck with all of your writing!

Thank you! It's write or be damned as of now, as I took the first of the antibiotics earlier. They are like horse tablets - no wonder the instructions say to take with a glass of water!

I hope you get completely well and off of the antibiotics soon.

Aha, and don't those self imposed deadlines provide sanity as well ! Trouble is, I need a wine after them. Wishing you luck in your week of abstinence.

I'm a third of the way through - have taken seven of 21. By Tuesday night they will be done. On Wednesday I'm back at the docs and then on Friday (week tomorrow) I can finish up the bottle of wine I started on Monday. It's crying in the fridge at the moment, lost and lonely without me. On the flip side I have had a couple of really good nights' sleep although not as long as my body is telling me it wants.

Thanks Val! Iought to have decided to join you in your writing and walking tour of Melbourne. Would have made the time go quicker. I'm not going to tot up the amount of words I am being asked to write this weekend though: three of my friends have all asked for articles for their blog/site or reviews of their latest product lines so I'm going to be busy enough, for sure.
