Moving

Five years ago is when I moved in with my fiancé, now wife. We cohabited for five months prior to tying the knot. Prior to that, I resided with my parents. I stayed at home longer than I probably should have. It was for a while after my brother died. I enjoyed those moments though. My father died 2 1/2 years later. My wife resided in an apartment until we saw a home we liked, although we're insure it was the right fit for us as beginners. We now have our home on the market. An offer just came in that we accepted. Now that we're under contract the rest of the time we are hoping goes smoothly. We had an offer a few months ago, but it fell through. Both her and I really want to be closer to work and we realize we may need to be inconvenienced for a bit since we have not gotten anything else. We were supposed to purchase a townhouse, but the building project got delayed. A natural gas pipeline may be put in the area where they propose to build, which concerns us deeply. So now we may need to stay at a hotel for a bit or find a rental. We are looking at homes with a realtor right now too. I guess any number of things could happen, but hopefully something good will work out soon.

Good luck to you on your househunting. I hope it is a pleasant experience for you. There is a writer here, &AbbyG , who does house-hunting for her friends. You might like reading her stories of it.

Thanks for the mention (?) &AbbyG . emoticon :winking: I like that we are such a diverse group here, and can help others by sharing our knowledge.

I owned one home, when I lived in Illinois. And a modular type, here in WA. I am not a "home owner"... I am renter. Suits me better. I think I used to have the owner mentality, until I realized that I will not likely ever be in a partnership again (since 1997), and I'd rather not be tied down to a mortgage. If I could find a small piece of land, however, and put up one of these "tiny homes" however, I might consider it. But now, getting too old for that.

Sounds like a good idea. We have to do whatever suits us best.
