If Life Was A Beach I'd Love To Be Tide Down

One week from today is the first teacher workday of the new school year and I have not once this summer set foot in the sand of a North Carolina beach. If it wasn't for our trip to Pensacola and our one afternoon on the Gulf Coast I would not have set foot on a beach at all. No wonder I'm in such a curmudgeonly state of mind.

We are finally heading to the river to camp on Friday. That will have to be close enough. We cannot go out on the beach because dogs are not allowed on the beaches here between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Considering my dogs make less of a mess and are better behaved than a lot of people I see at the beach I'm not sure it shouldn't be the other way around.

Well, enjoy the camp with the dogs despite everything else.

You do know how to turn a phrase and write eye-catching titles. : ) I love the beach myself, but in the off-seasons -- minus tourists and crowds. I want to enjoy the atmosphere, listen to the water as it moves, watch the movement -- just drink in the experience.

The fewer people on the beach, the more I enjoy it.

Lucky you. Enjoy and have fun, summer is over here and because I was in the hospital and recuperating afterwards, no setting foot on a beach at all!

I would rather camp with the dogs than go to the beach anyways. Have a good weekend when you go

We always enjoy taking the dogs with us camping. The campground we frequent is very pet friendly and even has a bark park fenced off so the dogs can have a romp off-leash.

The ultimate is going camping at the beach with the dogs. We will be doing that this fall.

You will have to make up for it next summer with an extra visit to the shore, or two. emoticon

Enjoy your camping on the river this Friday. Come to think of it, I haven't been on a beach in over two years.

'curmudgeonly' I am looking at this word for the first time. I am too lazy to look for its meaning. You will have to do it.
Have a blast by the river side with dogs and all emoticon

Then, my friend, you need to plan a trip. We all need a little coastal healing on occasion.

A curmudgeon is someone in a sour, negative, grumpy state of mind.

Thanks.

I'm am not a beach person, but I think it is a bit rough banning dogs when they let kids run free! emoticon :winking:

Because most people are not responsible pet owners, it makes it bad for those of us who are.

DWDavisRSL wrote on August 11, 2015, 8:50 PM

Precisely my point. If I have to listen to your children's shrieks of joy and excitement, you should have to put up with my dog's yips of happiness.

DWDavisRSL wrote on August 11, 2015, 8:51 PM

You would have to go and make the rational argument based on the truth, and spoil my curmudgeon. Yes, I used it as a noun. I can do that. I have a literary license.

CoralLevang wrote on August 11, 2015, 10:22 PM

You're not a curmudgeon by nature, my dear. emoticon :winking:

Paulie wrote on August 13, 2015, 3:43 AM

The problem is convincing my wife to go with me. She doesn'tg like beaches very well.

DWDavisRSL wrote on August 13, 2015, 2:35 PM

You're right, I'm not. I have to work really hard at it. Who wants to grow up to be a nice old man?

CoralLevang wrote on August 13, 2015, 3:20 PM

Someone who wants to keep a nice old woman happy. emoticon

We haven't been to the beach this year, either, although we are a bit farther away from it. We are holding off on travelling while our kitty needs his daily medicine. I guess you and I are frustrated furparents!

DWDavisRSL wrote on August 13, 2015, 7:25 PM

It does look that way.
