Fried spiders

Fried spiders are a delicasy in Cambodia. Before our trip to Asia my husband and I joked about eating those spiders. They sell them in a town called Skyon, but my husband and I only visited Siam Reap and Phnom Penh, and we didn't meet the people who sold the spiders. We wouldn't have been able to eat them anyway, but it could have been interesting to see them and take a picture of them.

After our trip I told a friend about the fried spiders from Cambodia and he said: "Spiders are so small, there isn't much meat" I told him that the spiders they eat in Cambodia are much larger than the European spiders. The spiders in Cambodia are about the size of a palm! On Youtube I saw a video about a tourist from another country. He ate fried spiders during his stay in Cambodia and he said that they were very delicious. I also like to eat the local food when I travel, but I there are some things that I wouldn't eat, and fried spiders belong to that category.

Oh, goodness. I have eaten some weird things (to me) in my life, but I think that eating a friend spider might just be very creepy.

Wow! I am not sure whether I would try them or not, probably depend on how hairy the legs were.

The locals eat them as snacks. I couldn't eat them.

I'm definitely up for this! I've eaten far weirder food than spiders!

There are no fried spiders here in Manila but we do serve fried crickets, fried bugs, and fried frogs!

I have never had fried spiders to eat, but Thailand has a lot of fried grasshoppers and different kinds of bugs and beetles which many locals eat as delicacies.

I wouldn't eat the spiders, but I had fried grasshoppers in Vietnam. Which fried bugs have you eaten?

I have not heard of people eating fried spiders. I have heard of people eating chocolate covered grasshoppers and chocolate covered ants.

Field crickets or what we locally call as 'kamaro'. I've also had 'uok'. These things look like alien flatworms and these are usually found in decomposing tree trunks. Then there are bugs, just bugs. LOL!

I've eaten sawagani, which is Japanese for "river crab". They are very small (about the size of a quarter) and soft-shelled, so you just munch up the whole thing, shell and all. They tasted okay, I guess, but there was too much crunch and not enough meat--I suspect spiders would be the same, and I would pass. Also, yeah, creepy. I'm not gonna lie.
