MyLot.com – My First Impression
Joined the myLot community yesterday. My user name is “cmoneyspinner” (same as here). Regardless of what my husband thinks, there is only one me with one personality, not multiple personalities that are called by different names. ♥ One name or user name is sufficient for my online work, web travels, adventures and misadventures.
MyLot.com was mentioned by a few members here. Must confess. Wasn't gonna go there. It's true! Just walked away from my Bubblews-removal and did not want to start a new relationship. The brain turned it off. But then, got that one last nudge from reading a recommendation by a FOPP member and thought:

Guess what!
Folks at myLot.com are just like people here. Meaning? They're real and they talk back!
Well duh! It is a discussion forum type of community, so it's great if you're “soap box” mode and want to shout from a mountain top or you're searching "voices" that are not in your head.
My first impression? Be warned. They're lively! Hmmm? Maybe if you're just getting started, probably shouldn't pick the topic of Gun Control in the USA as an ice-breaker. Choose something simple or less complex like … the ketchup drinker, Miley Cyrus or … roses. (O.o) :)

Thanks for this candid review of MyLot. Another community member here, bestwriter , came from that site to here when it was no longer paying and has now returned there, in addition to Persona Paper. It seems you are in good company. : )

"Gun Control" as an icebreaker...LOL. Living in the South where some people believe that shooting guns ranks right up there with taking communion, I can only imagine the reaction that one got!

I am still on the fence about joining MyLot. I have been sitting back to read reactions such as yours before making a decision. But what is the pay rate? I know $10 is cash out but is it higher and swifter to accumulate than here?

MyLot was there way before Persona Paper and before Bubblews. So, that being said, they, to me, are the original site like this. I jumped back there when I heard they were going to pay again. I was and am still extremely excited about that. I have been spending time there. I cannot lie about that. But I am still going to remain a member here because I like it here also. And yes, I will remain at the Bubs as well. So, since I am spreading myself thin, I will be trying my hardest to stay on top of everything and every site.

I joined myLot 7 years ago. A few days ago I returned after a long break. It is a great site, and I am happy to be back, but I don't intend to leave Persona Paper, because I like both sites.

I, also, used to be a "MyLot" member but after they stopped paying I stopped writing there. I know it sounds selfish on my part, but in this freelancer world where we live it is hard to write for free even if it is entertaining.
1That is the reason why I much prefer writing here on Persona Paper and Chatabout with the occasional stint on Bubblews. I will admit that I often suffer from a lack of inspiration but after reading some of the posts, it brings some inspirational subjects to write or/and talk about. Thank you for bringing your opinion on this writing site. It is pushing me to go back on the site and look it over one more time.

Lol your post made me laugh. I am still debating on joining or not. I have this site and another site I am on and to be honest, I have been so busy I have not been too focused on writing or chatting much ;/ but this made me giggle so thank you!

Incredible! So many people already knew about myLot! I may have heard people mention it, but there's a store here in Austin, Texas with a similar name, so I probably thought that's what the talk was about. (O.o)
GemOfAGirl , wolfgirl569 , DanieGirl8587 – Had just signed up. While on my laptop, my husband was watching clips of his video tapes and in between checking the TV to see what was showing. Somewhere in “mix of all the different voices” I heard the words “gun control”. So I wrote a post.
JohnRoberts – I understand your reservation. I don't want count my chickens before they're hatched. The proof is in the pudding. If I get paid $10, I'll holler and say how long it took for it to happen.

My account has been there on MyLot ,but I am changjiangzhibin89 there.MyLot is the first English site I visited and I have made many friends there ,then some of them came to Bubblews ,then Personapaper. In all fairness,it is suitable for me ,learning English oriented and writing in a small way one.However I love personapaper as much as MYLot .

I joined Mylot some 9 years ago and for about 7 years it was the only site that I used. I finally moved on because too many members left once the payments ceased. However, since the payment structure has been reintroduced a great number of members are returning.

It appears to be faster. (Although I have not cashed out yet.) But there also seems to be guess work involved for the earnings. You don't get paid to write you earn pay by discussing. Also, I use the word “guess” because it's an algorithm. Maybe the computer can do the math. But humans guess as it! With PersonaPaper there is less guess work in calculating your earnings. But I'm not too excited because … sometimes sites start out paying you quickly and then stop. Not saying that's what myLot will do but … it happens. I like all the sites I write for regardless of the pay. But if I don't earn money, I don't hang around too much. Time is money and I don't have a lot of it.

This was once a great site and so traffic-wise it still seems OK. The community is very nice. The earnings appear to be accumulating but can't give a good report until I cash out.

I'm in the same boat as you are. I've kept my account at "B" open, more in the hope that they'll lower the redemption rate than that I'll ever reach $50 again. I've written about 6 posts there this year and earned a massive 5 CENTS so clearly continuing would be a waste of time. I guess I'll have to investigate MyLot. And try to find some ideas to start posting here again too. I've got accounts all over the place, but I never seem to write for any of them.
