The cherry festival
The cherry festival in Kerteminde, Denmark takes place in July. The festival is very popular, and there are many visitors. The festival starts Friday and it ends Sunday night. Friday afternoon the cherry ship arrives. The ship is loaded with cherries and the visitors meet the cherry queen and the 7 cherry girls who are about 10 years old. They all carry cherry baskets and they serve cherries. The visitors will also meet this year's cherry minister. The cherry minister opens the festival. There are many other activities. There are stalls, exhibitions, guided tours, contests, concerts, sailing trips, activities for children etc.
The first cherry festival in Kerteminde took place 10 years ago. I have heard about the festival several times, but the previous years I didn't get the chance to visit it. Kerteminde is very to close to our new home and this year my husband and I finally visited the festival. We had a great time. We missed the arrival of the cherry ship, but we met the cherry queen in the street (Photo)

I wish I was there. That must have been a pretty sight to see all those cherries in baskets. Were they distributed free?

Yes, the cherries in the baskets were free. It was also possible to buy cherries in large bags. We had a great time and we will return next year

It was a lot of fun. I have heard about the festival in the past, and this year we finally got the chance to visit it.

We had a great time there. The festival was much larger than I expected, and I want to visit it again next year.

Yes, it was very colorful and there were many different kinds of decorations.
