Homework time

It is time to do homework now. Maybe in USA it is called schoolwork but locally we called it homework, the exercises that teachers gave pupils to finish at home. This homework has to be done by today because tomorrow, the pupils had to pass up the books for the teacher in charge to mark them. My boy told me that a few of his classmates didn't finish their homework because their parents do not teach them. The big problem is, their parents are non educated, unlike the rest of us who at least had completed 12 years of basic schooling. Hence, his classmates were punished by the teachers when the homework weren't completed. They were beaten with ruler on the palms and had to stand up for the whole period of the lesson. That is why, I insisted my boy to finish his homework by hook or by crook, if he doesn't want to be punish! Does your kid finish homework in time?

The stereotypical excuse for not finishing your homework is because the dog ate it. :)

When my children were younger, I made sure they did their homework on time. The only thing that saddened me some was that I personally could not help them on Math assignments because I was a poor Math student. Math always was hard for me to understand.

My granddaughter is MUSTARD to get to do her homework (that is, it is hard work). The best way to get her to do it, is tell her that you don't mind if she doesn't do it and she can explain why to the teacher! I don't mind doing homework with her but I hate the whining. It takes longer to whine about it than to do it!!!! That does not seem fair that the teacher is passing their work onto the parents to do. It is not a child's fault if their parent does not know the work.

When I lived in the U.S., we called it homework which it is also called in Thailand. I always completed my homework when I was a student because I hated to be called out by my teachers.

I agree that whining is really driving me up the wall. The worst part is when he say i don't know which one to do but must do.

That is one thing that is of advantage when parents have a good background.

Yes, they call it homework here, in the US, too. But it is definitely not as strict as it seems to be in Malaysia. If kids don't do it, there are no great consequences, but they know they loose out since they may not understand the concept if they don't do some homework at least. I always made sure my kids did theirs, but i do remember them whining about it sometimes.

I think those kids can seek help from their classmates, or at least try to do instead of handing in empty work.
