Three Mornings No Coffee

I last had coffee on Thursday morning. Here it is Sunday morning, I was up at 5:30 a.m. and two hours later, I have had no coffee.
I love the aroma and the taste of coffee, but I like sitting around with others, having a cup. As I live alone, I find that I do not enjoy it as much without company.
I am a black coffee drinker, generally. Occasionally, I will sweeten it just a tad, and make it blonde with a bit of cream. That is what we did before the advent of all these specialty coffee drinks that are now so popular.
I think that I will jump in the shower, and head out to Starbucks this morning for a mug of coffee and a pastry.
Have a wonderful Sunday!

I'm definitely addicted to coffee - can't get out the house in the morning without at least a cup. And it's got to be straight black for me. That's actually why I don't like Starbucks coffee: for me it is far too bitter and burnt-tasting to drink without adding lots of sweetener or cream. I prefer a milder brew.

Starbucks brew is the best black coffee in my opinion. I tried to drink coffee with breakfast this morning and it just didn't end well. Then again breakfast was kind of a bust too.

sockii They have a blonde line and a medium roast that you might like. I just like the darker roast.

I agree that Starbucks is great.

I've tried them (when forced to drink Starbucks while traveling and having no other options). Still not to my taste. I just find their beans in general burnt-tasting...and overpriced. It's not that I don't like dark roast (one of my favorites is La Colombe's Corisca), but there's a difference between dark roast and outright burned. I just always get a burnt taste from Starbucks, and the oily sheen on their beans indicates that they have been over-roasted.

Interesting. I've never heard that "oily sheen" meaning over-roasted before.

Hope you enjoy your coffee there. They are too high priced in my opinion

I like to have a cup of coffee beside me when I am working on the computer.

How did you survive without coffee all those days? I need my coffee, black as well, everyday. I could care less if there are people with me or not. I enjoy it anyway.

You had me at Starbucks. Even for my Keurig I prefer Starbucks K-Cups.

I drink my coffee black too, and I guess I started doing this when I was in the Navy. I hope you had a great time at Starbucks!

CoralLevang I hope by now that you have had some coffee.

I still have had no coffee for four mornings. I did have a cup yesterday afternoon from Starbucks, and an early afternoon one from McD's today.

I drink a small brew (the cheapest cup) at Starbucks, and because I hold the gold card, I get a free refill.
Today was a $1 cup from McDonalds. I'm cheap.

I drink water around the computer. LOL I've learned.
CoralLevang wrote on July 27, 2015, 11:27 PM
So do I. How did I survive? By drinking water and not thinking about coffee. LOL

I have thought about purchasing a Keurig, or a pod-style maker (not Keurig). I want to look at the cost of the knock-offs.

I drank it black before Navy. I just learned to drink it strong in the military. Or let me rephrase it: I learned to make it strong. Most people complained about my strong coffee, when they made me make it (as a female). I told them to make it themselves, if they didn't like my coffee, and then called them "wimps" for watering it down. LOL

hanvanmeegerin Yesterday's afternoon coffee kept me awake until 4:30 this morning. Tonight, let's hope I get to sleep before midnight!

I started drinking a really lot of black coffee when I was on rotating shift work and especially during the mid watches from 2300 to 0700.
CoralLevang wrote on July 28, 2015, 12:17 AM
Been there, done that, too. I was on rotating shifts as an RM and an AC. mostly 2-2-2-80 double backs. Worst shift work ever was the 1-1-1-32 eve-day-mid double-backs. UGH. What did you do in the Navy? When were you in?
Paulie wrote on July 28, 2015, 12:30 AM
I was a CTI and was in 1967-1971. Yes, the worst shift was the 1-1-1-32 which I worked while TAD to Japan. I worked the 2-2-2-80 when I was stationed on Taiwan.
CoralLevang wrote on July 28, 2015, 1:31 AM
Wow. Someone who is speaking my language! *laughs* Do you realize how I have to explain to nearly everyone what that means?
The 1-1-1-32 was a killer. We were so undermanned. About 3 months worth; then went back to the 2-2-2-80. Unfortunately, I didn't sleep much during those days, either. I was a single Mom, and stayed awake so much of the the time for those years. And I wonder why I am the way I am today! LOL

Now I know I cannot do that. I like drinking water, but that coffee is my morning boost.
DWDavisRSL wrote on July 28, 2015, 5:16 PM
I know Mr Coffee makes one that's much less than a name brand Keurig and used the K-Cups. The office where my wife works had a Tasimo for a while and hated it. It required a lot more maintenance than the Keurig.
