We cannot rule out the health benefits of salt - a new discovery !
Nowadays salt has been blacklisted by many of us as the main food ingredient for various ailments like high blood pressure, heart diseases etc. But do you know that having salt in food can actually increase your immunity power? Having salt in food is a nightmare for people due to chances of high blood pressure and other related issues. But a recent research study conducted by a team of Microbiologists of Luxembourg University, Germany shows that salt can help body fight against disease causing bacteria.
They gave high quantity of salt to rats and sodium concentration on their skin got increased which helps them fight a series skin diseases effectively. This is because when high concentration of salt goes into the body, it arouses macrophages which has direct link to our immunity power.
But at the same time, the team did not deny the fact that using high quantity of salt can lead to high BP and other heart related issues. But they recommend that when there is low immunity due to low salt in take, a high salt diet can be tried, but under strict supervision of a medical practitioner.

Too little salt can be just a dangerous to a person as too much, as with so many things. We humans always tend to go from one extreme to the other rather than finding the middle ground.

Salt is needed in our diets (but not too much) and it is a great and lasting preservative for foods.
