Abe is One of My Favorites Characters From History

I have heard alot of different stories and saw several docs and movies about John Wilkes Booth who killed Abraham Lincoln. But in all of these I have never heard of this Surratt woman.

I just saw a very interesting doc on History channel about Abraham Lincoln and his depression and how hard it was for him and his wife after they lost their son. They were both fit to be tied due to losing a couple of other family members during this time too.

And the doc talked about how great a speaker Abe was. How he started out sounding so pathetic when he would start some of his earlier speechs and then his passion rose and his speech changed. So cool.

And how interesting about his losing interest in politics and then came into it. Very interesting stuff.

Now this story about the woman who helped Booth. And she is the first woman in the United States to be executed. Here is the link:

I know Mr Lincoln more from the Great Moments with Mister Lincoln presentation by Disney. He is certainly an inspiring character who made it from the poorest to the greatest and still retained his grip on life.

I believe I have heard of Surratt. Mary Lincoln may have been bipolar.

Could very well be. She had a lot of deaths near each other. That is tough to work through.

Yes, he did. And just by a stroke of luck did he get back into politics. He was frustrated with it and had got back to practicing law until something came up that made him get back into it. I am glad of that.
