Have a Fun Canada Day with an Awesome Free Bingo Game
DLTK Kids was one of the first free printables sites I discovered when my kids were younger. It's a wonderful resource for both educational materials and simple crafts that won't cost you an arm and a leg in special supplies. When I was a Girl Guide leader, I often used the site to find easy crafts for my Sparks and Brownies. When I homeschooled my youngest, I used a lot of the preschool activities to help her learn those early literacy and numeracy skills.
With k_mccormick2 's two young children spending time here while she is at work, I find myself returning to DLTK for fun colouring pages, activity sheets, and games that her Monkey Man and Pokey can do with my kids. Today we decided to do a Canada Day themed bingo.
Free Printable Bingo Game
DLTK offers a free printable bingo game that you can customize. The cards come in your choice of 3x3, 4x4 or 5x5, and they can be printed with pictures or words (or a combination of both.) This means you can include younger kids, but still challenge older kids and keep their attention.
The cards can be printed in colour, but I like to print the black and white version because colouring in the pictures gives the kids an extra activity to do! You can customize the cards with a wide range of themes: American and Canadian holidays, religious themes, fairy tales and fables, kids' TV shows, nutrition, Dolch words, etc. Many of the themes tie in with other activities on the site, so there are plenty of opportunities to reinforce learning while the kids are having fun!
Today my 14-year-old organized a bingo that included kids ranging from 5-11. Even my autistic son was able to play with minimal support. All the kids were kept busy for an hour, and they had a great time!
