Wednesday Writing Prompt for June 24, 2015

My Introductory post .

The prompt for today is: Rain

This is what I wrote:

I remember one time when I was … six, maybe, we were going somewhere and one of my older sisters was singing “Rain rain go away, don’t come again some other day.” I can’t remember if we were going camping, or something, so we didn’t want the rain to ruin things. But I said something about without the rain all the plants would die. I was weird kid.

Now, I would like the rain to go away. I think today will be the first day without any amount of rain in three weeks or more. Half our tomato plants are drowned and we’ve waited so long for the garden to dry out to finish planting it, that it’s too late to plant our kidney beans. Hopefully, this evening we’ll get our potatoes planted and that will be all we’re planting this year.

I know there are places deep in drought, and if I could send them our rain I would.

Yes, I wish you could send some rain here. I think our fear of drought is abated, with some recent sprinkles, but we still need rain.
