The Bubblews Makeover

Didn't think the “new and improved” site would be all that but to be honest, the new writer's profile is very pleasing to the eye; albeit my post count is incorrect. It shows 118, when there are only 112. A few of my posts were deleted, either by me or my the site's owners. Guessing that's where the extra six come from.

The ampersand sign (& ) has been replaced with the AT sign (@); and the plus sign (+) has been replaced with the hashtag #).

“More posts by cmoneyspinner” at the bottom of each published post shows my additional posts with images. Nice touch!

There is a “Load More Posts” button and you can now see all of your posts.

Putting my user name in the search box yields some results; not all, but at least they are all posts generated by me. Not sure what the criteria is for retrieval.

The layout is clean, not sloppy-looking or crowded.

You can Flag, Like, Share (within the site) and Comment. RE: the “share” feature: If you share a post it appears on your profile page, in your collection of published posts, sort of like a recommendation.

buttons are still there; although they didn't add the button.

◊ Interesting Link: A Brief History of the Ampersand

https://pixabay.com/en/macro-coin-lincoln-copper-cents-387110/Haven't published a bubble yet under the new system. But since many others already have, there's probably no major changes or adjustments. However, the way video shares are shown is different. You used to be able to see the video within the post, but now you have to click the link and go the video. NO biggie.

But here is the most amazing part of my report. To my shock and awe, even though the system was down on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, my bank reflected an increase of a penny!!

All well and good but is this just papering over the cracks? Only time will tell if Bubble Ooze Admin's attitude to and respect for those who earn them lots of money has changed but I won't hold my breath!
PS: having said that I actually like the new look - not that I'll be rejoining any time soon!

It looks great, but one thing has not yet changed. They haven't stood up and been responsible for their past actions. Like Kasman said, could just be "papering over the cracks."

STMcIntyre wrote on June 22, 2015, 2:24 PM

Appearance and functionality have never been the problem with Bubblews- at least not as far as I was concerned. Their problem was that they started with an unrealistic and unsustainable business model, and then instead of phasing it out into something more manageable, they simple screwed people over. I'm sure most of us know more than a few people who had delayed payments, or who were just told simply: "We're not paying you. Period."

At this point, I don't know that there's anything that would convince me to go back.

LindaCPearson wrote on June 22, 2015, 4:19 PM

Once I'm lied to and cheated on, it would take a near miracle before I'd even think of going back to Bubblews. I agree with Kasman . Thanks for the Bubblews update. I just tried to get into Bubblews to check out the site and I get "Page doesn't exist". I wonder if my account has been deleted.

Went to my old bookmark for my Bubblews profile and signed in as I always do. Didn't get a "Page doesn't exist" message but did receive an eMail welcoming me to the site if I were a new account. Guess it's just for them.

After sharing my report here, went back and published my first post under the new system. It was the same process, only after the publish button was hit and the post went online, any attempt made to “edit” the post, got a message saying there was a “server” problem.

Ah well! If they stand, they stand. They fall, they fall.

Thanks for the remarks good people! :)

I just got an email welcoming me to Bubblews and to write a post so I guess my account hasn't been deleted, not yet anyway! I have to say, I loved Bubblews when I first joined several years ago and would love to see that miracle happen and Bubblews become nice and warm and fuzzy and also honest and pay its writers more than a mere pittance!

For some, it's too little and too late. It's a band aid on a gaping wound and it does not excuse the tremendous harm, that the site served to many folks.

Firecracker wrote on June 22, 2015, 8:59 PM

Ah, I was wondering exactly how the 'share' feature works. Thank you so much for explaining it! :)

wolfgirl569 wrote on June 22, 2015, 11:42 PM

That does not make the site earn any better or the team more dependable than they were before

FreyaYuki wrote on June 23, 2015, 3:00 AM

Just took a quick look over there but haven't logged in yet. The new interface does look pretty nice. It'd be great if the earnings there also increased.

morilla wrote on June 23, 2015, 3:44 AM

I don't understand all the 'new' symbols and what they mean. I posted a short piece, picked up 4 Likes, 2 Comments, 13 Views, and 67% on whatever that 'newspaper' icon represents; yet, not even a penny has been added to my Bank. Others seem to be mentioning the same thing. I know Likes went WAY down with the change in July of 2014 for awhile and I seem to remember others complaining about Banks being 'frozen.' So, I'm waiting to see. Regardless of what they say about 'sustainability,' I'm not going to do it entirely for free and, if I can't even earn a penny with those numbers, it worries me a bit where we might end up.

So... I'm waiting for the dust to kinda settle a bit.

Thank you for sharing it with us ! Since I still can't log in Bubblews ,I don't know what has happened lately there .However I don't think Bubblews will live what they have done down by doing it .

agvulpes wrote on June 23, 2015, 9:21 AM

I agree with what others have said ! I'm not sure I like someone elses Posts appearing forever on my Profile? My bank has not moved since way back when :)

Dawnwriter wrote on June 23, 2015, 10:05 AM

I agree with Kasman . Things other than the layout needed a major change. From what I have read so far, earnings are still abysmal and many other things still remain to be seen

cmoneyspinner wrote on June 23, 2015, 2:36 PM

hanvanmeegerin , Firecracker , wolfgirl569 , FreyaYuki , morilla , jiangliu1949 , agvulpes , Dawnwriter - - Definitely, there is some explaining of changes, improvements or modifications, that needs to be done. It appears they (site owners) are open to feedback and may even remove features if members don't see any value-add. As far as the bank being frozen? Yeah. It sure looks like it is! Awesome comments! Thanks!

You may wonder why I don't leave the site. It's become somewhat of a curiosity to me. I had actually left this site and moved on but when all the "brew haha" exploded, it made me wanna take a peek! I was at other writing sites and people were coming to those sites really letting off steam! Kind of like getting hooked on a daytime soap opera drama, I've gotten sucked in. When I have down time or need to clear my mind, check in for updates from any episodes I missed, tweet some of my bubbles, make a few comments, might publish a bubble, etc. Finally, I check the bank. That has got to be this site's most peculiar feature. It's like trying to come up with a combination to open a safe and your choice of numbers is between negative zero and infinity. How does it work? (O.o) Mind you. It shouldn't be this way. All other sites that have a revenue-share plan offer some explanation as to how it works. Yet people are still there bubbling. Every day. So. Question. Are they writing there for fun OR are they making money? If they're making money, HOW?? Isn't that curious?? A very curious mystery. Stay tuned! * * *

The post count in Bubblews is always not accurate. It can fluctuate like the stock market.

cmoneyspinner wrote on June 24, 2015, 11:32 AM

That's so funny. I'm kind of a nut when it comes to reconciling numbers and am always trying to get the number of posts right! It's an obsession. I must account for each number!! :)

cmoneyspinner wrote on June 24, 2015, 1:54 PM

UPDATE: Checked in at Bubblews today (o6/25/2015)and saw “Support” when I clicked on the “More” dropdown arrow and it offered some clarity on how revenues are earned. “Users receive money for each view, like, and comment on posts.” Uh huh. Cool! All I have to do now is generate a bubble that goes viral so to speak and get a bunch of views, likes and comments. Piece of cake! :)

WordChazer wrote on June 24, 2015, 2:51 PM

Not been over there in a while. Need to continue to remove old posts. My blog is a better home for them. Hopefully soon once the next audit deadline is done and the future direction of mine and Mr Chazer's jobs confirmed, I can have some time to do this.

cmoneyspinner wrote on June 24, 2015, 3:31 PM

Whatever you do, don't give up on your writing and blogging efforts. Your thoughts are indispensable so leave a very visible trail for others to find.

P.S. Old posts are easy to remove. If nothing else works right the DELETE button sure does! :)

agvulpes wrote on June 25, 2015, 9:52 AM

From what I have read on the comments on Bubblews the Learning Center (Support) is going to be rewritten!
I don't think that we are getting paid for each view, like and comment at the moment anyway !

cmoneyspinner wrote on June 25, 2015, 11:56 AM

At the moment? Uh huh. Look! If you're not going to be paid for writing bubbles. If you're not going to earn for likes, views and comments. If the new “share” feature was implemented and you're not going to be paid for that. Where is the income or revenue-share potential?? What are they going to rewrite?? They going to pay you for Flagging? (O.o)

Not jumping on you but come on! I remember Bubblews from the beginning! Folks came to that site for the money! People flocked there and some of them stayed through everything and have been there for years. So is it just for fun and friends and making contacts that they hang around? I'm not buying it!

Ruby3881 wrote on June 26, 2015, 3:24 PM

The videos, Tumblr button, etc. were apparently overlooked in the upgrade. I believe they are adding them back, as they did with the Pinterest button.

Earnings seem to be at a standstill since the day the site came back online, though. I earned 5 cents over the period the site was supposed to be offline, but haven't seen a penny since it came back. And that's with new content and decent traffic. A lot of support tickets have been submitted regarding zero earnings. It will be interesting to see if they do something to fix it...

cmoneyspinner wrote on June 26, 2015, 4:16 PM

Fix it? How did it get broke? Site owners did all that work on a new and improved system and the main feature of importance to everyone is broken?? (O.o) (???)

The Pinterest and Tumblr buttons are no problem for me because I have a browser add-on. Not really very active on Bubblews but the feel of the new and improved publishing platform is very simplistic and kind of makes posting an enjoyable activity. Commenting is also an easy process. So when I don't really have much to do, or find something of interest to share, it's a good place to go and shoot the breeze. After a while though, if that bank doesn't show some signs of life, I think I'll move on. Leave it behind for those who want to stay and have fun. I'm not at Bubblews for fun. There was an agreement or understanding when members signed on that you could post 400 characters AND earn revenue. If I'm not going make any money at Bubblews, then I might as well write quick posts or status updates, and socialize on the other social networks like Facebook where I don't make any money. I don't need to be a two different sites – doing the same thing, not making money and listening to my significant other asking me why I'm wasting my time? Bottom line: If the bank at Bubblews does not accumulate EARNED earnings, why waste my time? Ain't nothing in it for me!

Ruby3881 wrote on June 26, 2015, 6:27 PM

That's basically how I feel. I'm pleased with the new look, formatting, etc. But how could they go back online with the bank not working for all users? I have said it many times this year; I'm only planning to stick around until I earn those last three dollars. Once I receive payment, it's up to Bubblews to seriously impress me that the earning potential has been restored. Otherwise, I'll just treat it like Facebook.

cmoneyspinner wrote on June 27, 2015, 3:33 PM

I think your post about protecting your investment is SPOT ON! http://www.personapaper.com/article/33745-how-to-protect-your-writing-investment

Ruby3881 wrote on June 30, 2015, 10:07 AM

Thank you! I was written after all the trouble on Bubblews - but I had learned long before to save everything offline and to document everything! When I told Bubblews support about my bank not moving, I had the stats to back it up. Within 24 hours my bank was suddenly unstuck, and they had found a glitch they earlier claimed didn't exist!

Not saying it was my email that did it. But I do believe the more of us who can show them solid data to back up reports, the better our chances that they'll be able to spot a problem. You can't just whine that "nothing is working" or "I'm not earning any money" and expect that people will take you seriously!
