My Mid-Week Agenda Will Not Be Announced

It's Wednesday. Mid-week and I have plans. Not written in stone. But plans just the same. See the related posts below. Well here's the story behind them. Long time ago a Jewish friend of mine shared this proverb with me: “We make plans and God laughs.” She said it meant that even though we make grand plans and lay out our schemes and intend to accomplish many things, events can change and nothing we intended to do ever materializes because …? God is in charge!

free emoticonsOK. That proverbial view of life is acceptable but my counter to that is: “ To err is human. But to really screw things up … you can use a computer. Don't blame God for the change of plan!”

One weekend I proudly announced my plans or agenda to review and possibly comment on posts that had already been shared to by other members of the Persona Paper community. Of course, that weekend everything went wrong with my laptop and nothing got done! By the time my computer problems were fixed, the weekend was over and Monday was met with my other websites and blogs that needed catch-up work done, Inbox eMail messages that had to be cleared out, etc., etc., etc. My weekend agenda got put on a back burner.

What's the moral of my story?

Next time my plans will not be publicized!!

I hope the plans work out for you. It is always aggravating when things do not

I have pretty regular plans for each weekend, including updating the local website but sometimes other people's plans or problems overset them. A couple of weekends ago, it was my computer.

Smart move. One again my bad memory got me in trouble. I was sitting here with both computers on this afternoon when the power went out. i had forgotten this was the day of the planned and announce power outage for half an hour. Since my air conditioning would be off and I had to go pick up a prescription, I decided to do it then while the power was off. I got home just as the truck was leaving the neighborhood. It messed up my iMac, which had to rebuild the iPhoto database. That was scary.

The proverb "We make plans and God laughs" is similar to another one "Man proposes ,God disposes ".I agree with you .Online tends to make our plans fall through .

The aggravated reaction is just my initial burst of emotion. Within minutes after I realize things aren't going to go my way, I switch to Plan B and go another way! :)

Indeed? When I Googled the phrase I learned that it was a Yiddish proverb. Many a desktop computers have died by my hand. There is one laptop my daughter gave me when she bought her new one that I left in a sad condition but it's holding on! The laptop I have now belonged to my son. Hope it lasts for a while. :)

Oh yes! When you have a large family as I do things often do not go according to plan. With or without a computer. We all learn to make adjustments and keep on keeping on.

Power outages are always fun, aren't they? The ones I've experienced are usually never planned. Just random. But they seem to be perfectly timed with whatever I am right in the middle of, especially something I've been working on for hours on a computer. Ooops! The auto-save feature “forgot” to work properly! And of course, there is no back up file! Don't you love it when all your work disappears and you have to do it again? :)

Thank you for sharing the proverb from your culture. Many of my best laid plans were foiled by automation. I always am thankful that my brain doesn't get fried in the process. :)

At this point in my life I am pretty much freestyling like you. But in an effort to be a little bit organized, I try to map out a workplan for a couple of days. My weekends are often when I try to do the stuff I meant to do but didn't do during the week and so I just thought it would be perfect for reading those pinned posts. It did not happen! It has not happened yet. It's in the back of mind as a “To Do”. :)

Fortunately, I only lost a paragraph. I did learn that my back-up power supply isn't working, though.

I regularly have to do that so understand.

You are actually as sober as a judge and know well how to prioritize your work .

Publicize them anyway and allow yourself imperfection.
