Twitter Modifies the 140-Character Limit

Was tempted to categorize this post as “Breaking News” but by next month, July, it will be old news. This upcoming enhancement to tweeting is not really news to me. Often wondered when the Twitter owners were going to to relax the 140-character limit. Not IF. When. Knew they'd come around eventually. Figured if the thought crossed my mind, they must have already thought about it ahead of me. After all, they're tech geniuses!

https://www.facebook.com/hellogigglesThe DM (Direct Message) character limit is going away. This change has no major impact on my Twitter usage. Rarely do I ever send a DM. But for those who do they're probably giggling and having a pre-DM celebration party!

Found this interesting update at hellogiggles.com .

Shame! LOL It was quite challenging to get some messages inside that limit.

I know what you mean. Trimming down phrases to the least amount of words. Felt like a real writing achievement. :)

I like how it makes me economize on messages. How many characters now?

The standard Tweet is still 140 characters. But the DM or Direct Message can be 10,000 characters.

I seldom use twitter. Just never liked the set up there

It's not for everybody. Lots of people don't use social media at all. I wouldn't but if you want to reach readers or customers you have to go where they are. So I use it!

Like I said, I don't DM often. But you are right. Didn't see the need for the 140-character limit.

Twitter is the best place to do micro-blogging.
