Sad as One More Writing Site Closed...

On 14th June 2015, one more site closed. The site owners and the admins tried their best to keep the site running but seems like nothing worked. The site was doing improving day by day as told by few people (won't look nice writing out their names here). Been a member there since Jan 2015, since the start the site was facing one or other issue.

Earlier one of the owners, vanished with the money which was supposedly payable to the members who has reached the minimum threshold. This was a major blow to all there. But somehow they still managed to run the site. Then the name was changed to get rid off the bad reputation they earned by this kind of theft.

So the site turned to a non-paying site, many members left or stopped writing there. But many stayed back and kept on writing and were give a premium membership badge on their posts. Things seem to go in the right direction and again the tragedy struck.

Again, when it was expected that the members will be paid whoever reaches the minimum amount. Again one of the owners very abruptly closed the site, saying the host deleted all the files...

Don't know what to say, but things don't look so simple, thou just my opinion but feel there was something wrong from the starting. Anyhow the site is no more, but the best part was in the last 2 months got to read very informative stuff there.

It sounds to me like it was a bit of scam site , look out for new sites starting up as they may do this again under another name.

That had been my main writing site after Bubblews imploded, then all the issues made me a little gun-shy. Thankfully, Persona Paper has stayed steady through all the writing site troubles these last few months.

It's a shame when business and administrative skills don't match up to technical ideas and innovation.

I was never a member of that particular site but it is a sad day when yet another opportunity to write and earn goes away.

ashuli This site that closed had to be the old Elite Visitors site. I forgot what they changed the name to. But I figured as much. None of those sites will sustain themselves. I guess those disgruntled bubblers thought they knew how to do it better. Guess not. Well, we all move on. I tread lightly with new sites now. I always have that feeling with these cheesy sites that they will not be around long and I am usually right. Persona Paper is a real good site to be part of and in my opinion, so is Bubblews. I have not found anything else online better than these two sites.

Many site have seen their downfall over the past year. There are few sites out there that have lasted over two years. Good luck in all that you do.

Heard the story about this site though can't quite recall the name right now. There was something wrong if people who didn't cheat or break the rules didn't get paid. I wonder if those people can report this to the BBB so they can get their money back.

It sounds a bit iffy to me too, but I do know it feels like a personal loss when something you poured your heart and soul into folds.

Yes, for kind of business venture to be successful, both are of immense importance and somehow both were missing. But still happy I did met a few intelligent people there...

ashuli wrote on June 17, 2015, 7:37 AM

actually when it started it was not like this, but after a month or two many things changed and the site became unstable...

ashuli wrote on June 17, 2015, 7:39 AM

Yeah, never noticed your name there. Really feel very bad when a promising site gets closed abruptly...

ashuli wrote on June 17, 2015, 7:41 AM

Touchwood, just hope and wish everything goes well for this one...

ashuli wrote on June 17, 2015, 7:42 AM

yes this is about that site only. And were you a member there ?

ashuli wrote on June 17, 2015, 7:43 AM

you are very right and just hope nothing of this sort happens to this one... :)

Unfortunately, that is becoming all too common. It is extremely rare to see a writing site hang on for long -- that is a true drag when communities form around those and people get used to making money through them.

BrenndaMarie wrote on June 17, 2015, 10:15 AM

ashuli , I pray nothing happens to this one as well. I am down to only writing for this one and one other. Far too many sites have just disappeared seemingly overnight. Making it even harder for writers.

Like you, I stayed to write ... thinking it would go on to succeed. Sadly, it didn't. I was disheartened to see several people I respected ... begin to talk ugly to the other. I expected much more from them. Just before the site closed I wasn't feeling good seeing all the 'ugliness' that had begun to come through.

ashuli I was a member of Elite Visitors. But then I gave up. It seemed shaky to me and I felt it wouldn't be around for long and I guess I was right. Even after the name changes it went through.

ashuli wrote on June 17, 2015, 11:27 PM

exactly I too noticed the same thing and when it crossed the limits, even tried talking to one of the admins there but when I got a negative and "I don't care" kind of response even had requested the admin to just delete my account there...

It's sad how many writing sites are closing down, I used to write for a dozen sites and now write for maybe three or four (and none of them very regularly)
